It was a predictable reality check for our Ant and Dec type 'footy' fans, and a hollow victory for the Soviet toughs. The Russians seem unaware that the England fanbase is not what it was in the 80s and 90s, and that today's happy clapper types are harmless showboaters, complete with printed flags. All in all, not really a fair and well-matched fight.
It certainly wasn't a fair fight! But that's the way it rolls! Wrong place wrong time for the true fans caught up in it! But if there's anyone out there thinking some of the England fans are blameless then they're very naive!
The authorities need to stop this before someone dies. Either round the individuals up and deport them or send the whole Russian team back home.
PARIS (AP) — UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against Russia for crowd disturbances, racist behaviour. (no case yet against England)
To be fair, the last 3 months has seen more hooliganism than the previous 10 years - Man Utd team bus, Liverpool vs Seville, Millwall vs Barnsley and even the City fan vs Derby. I seem to recall some other recent high profile incidents but can't think of them now.
Liverpool v Seville was similar to last night ffs, no segregation and Sevilles twats storming into the liverpool end. Didn't stop our media reporting it the usual bullshit way. Millwall v Barnsley, just the usual non football supporters who tag along to any big millwall game as an excuse to fight each other. That bellend who said "enjoy the championship" to Keogh, really, seriously isn't worth the time it took your to type.
I fear just a slap on the wrist , cos if the Russians get what they deserve it will show total lack of judgement on FIFA's part for WC 2018.
Yes. It'll be something like a 5k fine for the Russian fa and no alcohol sold in the stadium concourse for their next game.
Yes, that City fan incident was absolutely terrifying. Hooliganism at its very worst. Do you write for the HDM?
The fact that Russia has had a case opened against them by UEFA and not England says it all. Yet I guarantee some will still blame us of course. Ps. greengrocer - stop been dosile arsecunt.
Ffs, I didn't say it was terrifying... Ok then, ignore that one - has there or has there not been an increase in visible hooliganism this past 3 months?
The Russians got a suspended sentence in 2012, they're very lucky that it ran out during qualifying, or they could be on their way home.
