Which is almost exactly what I said in an earlier post. I didn't comment on the line-up but the substitutions were wrong.

Sterling really wasn't beating people though. Was he?

I do question the wisdom of having England play Russia in Marseille after the carnage England fans caused in 1998 there.
There is a large Franco North African community in the city that probably had an axe to grind and the Russians have a current hooligan problem and see the English as the "daddies" of hooliganism from which they could gain reputation from defeating. There is no doubt that the French Police are not adept at controlling such situations and were probably heavy handed in their treatment of the English because of the aforementioned trouble there in 1998.
The behavior of the Russian fans after the game was shocking and disgusting and should be dealt with by the authorities. I just hope that the English fans can move on and not get involved in any more disturbances for the rest of the tournament.

Beating, well no, getting the ball in positions moving forward, far better than previous, please don't make me look like a fan of his, but he was better. Got no brain or final ball, if he gets that he'll be worth what city paid for him. Did you want Hendo or Milner?

Almost right on. I would have had Lallana on the left instead of Sterling. Then either go for it with Vardy or someone more defensive if not.

I have a horrible feeling that Wales are going to lose 4-0 to England which is why I'm enjoying tonight so much :)

Basically, Roy was going to make a couple of substitutions. Lallana had blown himself out a bit. Sterling still doesn't have confidence. Kane wasn't having his best game. Rooney was playing a blinder. So what does Roy do.? He takes off Rooney, puts on Wilshere and within a short while loses control of the midfield. Then to shore that up he puts Milner on for Sterling. Now Sterling hadn't had a good game upto then, but he was an outfield route. That disappeared and we invited pressure. Cue Russia score. Wasn't too much of a surprise.

Me. I would have left Rooney running things and put Vardy on for Sterling or Lallana, and got Kane and Vardy to switch around occasionally. Cue Russians crapping themselves with the outlet ball and pace and no equaliser.

You are the international equivalent to say Carlisle Utd, so i'd suspect so.

Oh how simplistic. Have you ever been to an away game supporting England ?? Its somewhat different to tapping on your computer in your cosy home.

Some would argue that Russia has a very oppressive regime; just that they are better at PR than they used to be.

Watched the game at a street party last night. Thought we played pretty well, although Sterling was frustrating.

I didn't understand our subs, or the timing of them. Hindsight management is pretty easy but it's all I can offer, and I think don't think I'd have taken Rooney off. We kept dropping deeper and deeper and our outlets began to dry up.

Think I'd have still got Vardy on to give them something to think about, to give us counter-attacking ability and to try and pin the Russian defence back as they came further and further up the field to launch balls into our area. Don't think we should've taken Rooney off for his leadership value and experience amongst what is a young and inexperienced group in international tournaments.

Ah well, positive signs but since the draw was made I've thought Wales would get something off of us when we play them.

Just flicking through the reports from the streets of Marseille last night.

Noticed that Jamie Vardy's family got caught up in it.

She's also saying on her Twitter page that there was no police in the ground between fans, the segregation extended to four seats of tarpaulin, the stewards had no hope and Russians and Marseille gangs rushed England fans in organised fashion. Additionally, exit routes were shut off and England fans then tear gassed with nowhere to go.

I know we've got more than our fair share of knobs, but I was speaking to someone I know who's out there and is a good egg who doesn't get drawn into this kind of bollocks and he said England fans, in most cases, are just having to defend themselves against locals and Russians.

It's being reported that gangs from other parts of France and Russian groups flew into Switzerland and then made their way to Marseille. The whole situation not helped by no cabs, no buses and no trains as the whole transport network goes on strike. People just wandering the streets trying to get home. Total shambles.

Hopefully nobody fails to make it back home.

Problems in the stadium occurred when the firework went off in the Russian section. Apparently a number of Russian fans ran into the England section in panic which caused the stampede. Questions must be asked as to how fans were able to get flares and fireworks through security?
