Aidan Turner is supposedly in the running as a serious contender too. He's Poldark, if you saw any of that.

If not, Google is your friend. :)

Anybody else seen a Western called Slow West [2015].? Came out really early last year and got missed by many. Pretty low budget, it stars Michael Fassbender as a fairly convincing not-nice cowboy who looks after a 16 year old Scottish lad [Kodi Smit McPhee] who is trying to find his first love again in the wilds of the Frontier West. Fassbender's character says he does it purely for the money, but really he doesn't want to see the hope die in the eyes of the lad like it has in his own. On their journey they encounter adventure. End of story, you might say. Well, not really. We are treated to flashbacks in their lives which tells us of their motivations, fears, etc... and once again this is a talkative Western. Tarantino revived the talking Western a few years ago and last year's The Hateful Eight was verging on ridiculous with its character's continual monologues. QT has subsequently influenced others in the genre. The recent Bone Tomahawk is quite talkative, though it keeps it entertaining and grounded, and this one is only slightly less wordy. The story is quite simple and the violence is once again rather graphic. Again, this is not Hollywood violence. When people get injured they are properly hurt and they stay hurt until they survive or die. But it isn't all-action. Slow West is quite slow, as the title says. But it's worth it, in my opinion.

Yeah, I found that out late. Don't want him to be Bond. Rather have him as Poldark. I saw it and He and
Eleanor Tomlinson were brilliant in it.

They should turn back and lock up anyone who even thinks of buying a jar of marmite. Horrid stuff.

I'm off Monday morning, back Friday evening. Hopefully local colleagues have lined up a bar for me to watch that game. 10pm out there for kick off.

Good luck in your travels, Fats! Monday I'm in court for (hopefully) the final chapter in my longstanding case ....... Tuesday night I'll probably be counting my sorrows (and whatever is left in my bank account!)
