Most of the recent Irish work in bars or are baby sitters, but come in from Brooklyn or Queens The Irish you see came here many generations ago or are just people who enjoy a piss up like the Irish. It might make you proud but as is with most of the Irish they cant wait to leave the place!!

Oh you are so knowledgeable. You must be talking about the college students who go there for 3 months in the Summer during their Summer holidays on J1 visas. The ones who went there many generations ago now live in Long |Island and Manhatten and other parts of wealthy New York. So,are you proud of all the Irish American NYPD and NYFD officers who saved hundreds of citizens from the WTC or are you just a complete racist?

A vast majority of those "Irish" NYPD or NYFD have never been to Ireland, and have parents who've been to Ireland and most have grandparents who have never been to Ireland. And of course 99.99% of them would never want to live in Ireland. Most of the the "students" come in the summer and stay longer than their visas allow because they don't want to go back!!!. Why is telling like it is racist?

What sort of impartial game is BBC playing putting up a panel of 5 with 3 for Exit, and only 2 for Remain, with 1 of them a Comedian?

I'll not post on this subject again except to remind you that there are more Irish living abroad than in Ireland. I wonder why?

All totally false I'm afraid. They are all very proud of their Irish roots. Just look what the St Patricks day parade means to them. I have had hundreds of them in my taxi. Our students return home to complete their education and take up professional positions both at home and abroad. They are far too educated to be your servants for any more than one Summer. Another ignoramus on the thread. I don't have the time or the inclination to educate you Durbar. All I will say is, don't judge people based on your prejudices and try and keep your racial prejudices to yourself. Cheers.

I wonder why American companies invest 20% of their total direct foreign investment into the EU into this little country you so despise? An educated workforce and the youngest population in Europe and the highest rate of economic growth of any EU country at the moment. Not the drunken, 3rd world country you and others seem to want to portray.

I have driven a taxi for 12 years and have met tourists from all over the world including many Irish Americans. He did mention something about having a liquid lunch. Lets see what he says tomorrow when he is sober.

He did, I'm sure he'll have the decency to apologise. 12 years is a long shift mate, get your head down, which is what I'm going to do now on my 2 sleeping bags, fully dressed and filthy dirty. Ahh, the high life. Bon soir.

Yes but that is not the only attraction. The young educated population, availability of other EU nationals with language skills and direct access to the EU and Eurozone are significant factors too. If we were out of the EU, they would probably be in Poland or somewhere.

Apologise for what?. I live in Manhattan so I have a little more knowledge of the situation here than a Taxi driver in another country does.

at least you finally have the good grace to admit that all your posts on here were more to do with what's good for Ireland and your pension and not because of any benefits it has for Britain.

Wow... CR...That last comment is completely uncalled for .
Fingy has talked a lot of sense on this thread, agree or disagree with his point of view and argue is good...personal insults are not called for.
I hope an apology or edit is coming

What were the application lists like? And what were the A level grades of those who didn't get in?

Before we can state categorically that there's definately a problem, we need to see all the data, not just one aspect.

    Here's the article Chaz.

    http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/m...p?shareToken=617191c72be279e895522573aa0e74ab

Your questions are valid but scratch the surface. Even if there are very few black or poor applicants, and they don't get the grades, it still begs the question, why the **** in the C21st are your life prospects still limited by accidents of birth?
