Kinell, this has (surprisingly) become a major WHOOOOSH thread. See ST14's #75. Well done, TC. You've surprised me. Have you been on the juice again?
Calm down, Ringo, the beautiful game starts again in a few hours. Now, ... breathe.

They really should have won by a lot more. Hopefully you made up some of the money you lost on that other game.

    Yeah have done.

Probably will move over to Euros when they start, finding Copa frustrating.

You probably just dont watch enough of the games between these teams. I think I have called every game correctly so far.

Haven't weighed in because I've been watching most of the games on DVR. But I have the venue pass for Santa Clara so I've been at USA-Colombia and Chile-Argentina.

USA is looking smooth. Thought they played Colombia very well, especially in person. Obviously you can't give up set piece goals or cheap penalty goals to Colombia and expect to win, but in person the USA looked to really dictate play and keep the ball. They didn't move fast enough, Bradley had a nightmare but Wood and Zardes were making good runs and not found. Also I have no idea why message boards and whatnot got down on Dempsey. The dude created all of our chances, most of them out of thin air, and because he drops back super deep to get the ball, the two wingers are able to tuck in and turn a 4-3-3 into a quick 4-3-1-2. If they moved the ball faster, the link up options were on. I really think Bradley had a rough time in this game and was seeing ghosts as he never turned even when he had space. Nonetheless, no shame in losing to Colombia and conceding no goals from the run of play.

Next game for USA against Costa Rica you saw how it's supposed to work. The announcers even got confused saying "USA has switched to a 4-4-2!" when in fact Dempsey and Zardes were taking turns dropping in and Wood was tucking in. I think we're seeing the USA start to fire on all cylinders and if they can get through their quarterfinal opponent (presuming they beat Paraguay, which I expect them to) then I think they actually have a shot to win it.

I love Nagbe and Pulisic but at this time, Pulisic is best served coming in off the bench and attacking tired defenders with his youthful energy and enthusiasm. Over 90 minutes he would get killed. This is why Dortmund haven't started him regularly and their coach has admitted as much. He's a GREAT prospect moving forward. Nagbe has a better call to start, but with Jones and Bedoya both regularly playing well, what can he do? I am the charter member of the Nagbe fan club and think a diamond midfield with him on a side would be lightning, but I get it.

Paraguay vs. Ecuador was one of the best games of soccer I've seen in years.

I was at Argentina vs. Chile and those players are damn amazing. I sat in the 4th row (excellent hookup from the coaching community; I sold my venue pass tickets for the match on the spot for face value!) and they're truly world class. As someone who played with Donovan, Beasley, Convey, Onyewu, et al from the 2006 World Cup team, I can say I'm super impressed by the ability of both teams to press mistakes and counter with speed. Argentina figured out that they could spring wingers against Chile's 3 man back line and just run, and Di Maria turned his mark into a turnstile the second half. Totally sweet to watch. But both of those teams... if Hull City could nab a player from either one, I don't care who it is, they would make us better.

Tickets next Monday for Uruguay vs. Jamaica and then a quarterfinal C1 (likely Mexico) vs. D2 (guessing Chile at this point?). Totally stoked.

I'm a teacher and school ended today. No more DVR for me. I'll try to keep up with you guys!

I was betting based off a predictive matrix that has also got most games right, however I've second guessed myself on a few of them which is the frustrating element.

The manager didnt tell him that he had been listed as ineligible due to injury. Suarez had tapped up his ankles and was out warming up for like 15 min without the manager having told him to do so. He got pissed because they used their last sub and it wasnt him.

We play Haiti on Sunday. If we beat them by 2 goals we are through and will probably play Colombia.
Also I bought tickets for the Quarterfinals in the hope that Uruguay went through. Now I have to watch Argentina struggle against Venezuela.

Your from Ecuador? You will probably play Colombia, thats if you win by 2 and Peru doesnt get a point on Sunday.

The US plays Paraguay today. If we win then we play Brazil if Brazil wins or gets a draw.
