From the OS about Bodin.... Bristol Rovers are delighted to announce Billy Bodin has agreed a new two year deal with the club. The tricky wide man was in fantastic form for Darrell Clarke's promotion winning side scoring 13 goals including four goals in the last three games of the season. On agreeing a new deal, Billy told us "I'm delighted to be staying, we had a special group here last season and achieved something really amazing. The club is back where it belongs now and on the up so think it's a great club to be part of and I can't wait to get going in League One" Bodin became Darrell Clarke's fourth summer signing last year after the former Torquay United man was handed a two week trial at the start of the pre-season campaign. Billy began his career with Swindon Town, moving from the youth set-up before making his first team debut for Swindon Town as a late substitute in the 2–1 League One defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge in 2010. Having secured another member of last seasons promotion winning squad on a longer contract, Rovers Chairman Steve Hamer told us "Billy was one of the jewels in the crown for us last season and someone we were very eager to retain. Now that has been achieved, having fought off considerable interest from other Club's! His signing matches his ambition along with ours and we all look forward to Billy progressing further next season on the field." http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...-billy-bodin-3138896.aspx#t2LIWsVyGXXdg2d9.99
That's interesting that a lot of other clubs were in for bodin. He must of been closely watched throughout the season. And to think a lot of scouts would of been targeting Taylor. So,so glad Bodin has signed, watch this boy go now.... Trust me he will be well talked about next season.
Im chuffed to bits that he is staying. Important player. If Taylor leaves, I wouldnt mind Bodin moving up front to be honest.
I have a bit of inside info on that score captain. I'm very good friends with an ex youth manager, was connected with rovers at one time...
Just looked him up on wiki and it said.... "he was offered a 2-year contract with Bristol City, which he refused" Sounds like a good guy to me So he was our u18's manager a few years ago. Does he know our youngsters now? And how good they are?
He has a lot of connections in local football captain, he would hear of any protentials in the youth set up through the grape vine... His son was in rovers youth set up, but never made the step up. But he is rovers through and through...
