When Wales played us last time at Wembley they couldn't handle Bale and if Wales had more than him on the day they would've done us over. As it was it showed one man cannot do it alone but every time Bale got the ball it was almost like Maradona 86 (without the goal)
Got to love Bale....he is one of our own, though this is temporarily suspended for the duration of England v Wales game. Wales can qualify 2nd in group....now I can't be fairer that that.
Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Wales ended up above England in the group. It depends on which England turn up for the tournament. The seemingly arrogant, but ultimately totally without confidence one, or the one perfectly capable of beating anyone 5-1.
If you're like me and can't speak a word of Portugese, you may have wondered what MILHOES means. Millions, is the answer. Portugal's population is 10.5 million, which isn't so snappy as 11.
But the pronunciation still sounds virtually the same. Like Joao when prononced by a Portuguese sounds almost the same as John or (more accurately) jowen. One language where regional spelling has changed over hundreds of years. Johan, John, Joao, Joan
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36455294 Steve Davis' home village all set to support their hero.
"Steven probably gets 15 seconds a season on Match of the Day. He's been as good as any midfielder in the Premier League this season," said Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill.
Just a day to go until it all starts. for those in the Euro sweepstake, here is a reminder of your teams
I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of turgidity in this tournament, plenty of acting, robotic unimaginative football, the usual time-wasting and precious little excitement. And it does't finish until July 10th. It will be the opposite of the 2015 Rugby World Cup which was absorbing, exciting, skilful and imaginative. Part of my reasoning stems from the presence of 24 teams, 16 go through to the next round so I sense many of the matches will be played with the aim of not losing, beginning with the first round of matches and culminating in a desperately disappointing final by whoever gets there as the players will be knackered!!!
I'm starting to believe I might get a draw, tomorrow. Have read that Romania don't concede many and France have been struggling to score. Could be a minging 0-0 .
There are a few people on here who are rather excited about the tournament. Can't say I am unduly. Partially because its international football and not club, and partially because I suspect you're right in what you describe.
Looking like a me v Laces final then. Will it be fresh Turkey or should mum have gone to Iceland. Come on you ..... What is Iceland's nickname?
I was a bit piddled off with BBC Sports description of Davo's abilities: Slight of frame, devoid of searing pace or show-stopping skills Ok, he's slight. I'll give them that. But if lack of searing pace is a polite way of saying he's slow, then forget it. He's actually capable of being pretty rapid when he wants to be. And as for no show-stopping skills, well show me any player bar the showmen who do. Davis majors in the flicked 'dolly' pass over the opposition player's head. He's done it probably half a dozen times over the last season, to good affect. So I'll give BBC Sport 1.5 out of 3. Might try harder [by actually watching a player properly before judging]. Bloody cheek.! On Radio 5 on Tuesday night, one of the pundits suggested that Davis was NI's Christiano Ronaldo. He verified that by saying that he was head and shoulders the best player in the NI squad, being a top Premier League player. I found that description rather likeable.
If I hear an unknown voice, I hang up straight away as well. The effect of cold calling. Poor Steve...nothing personal.
