Yep. It took another couple of heavy sessions at the Gilpins Bell, Edmonton, before coming to a decision.

Ever drink in the Pymmes Park Inn Ponders? Was an occasional hangout of mine for a while in the late 80s.

Yep, I was a regular at the PPI. Shame it closed down.

Did you ever drink in Kelly's Bar or the Britannia?

PPI is about the only pub in Edmonton I knew. Wood Green was more my manor back in the day (The Nightingale, The Fishmongers/***ins, The Kings Head, The Cock/Manhattens Palmers Green).

I really like London. But I equally liked getting the hell out of it.

Spent a few years working in central London and have great memories of good times - but I used to commute back home to Jockland most weekends. On weekends I didn't go home the missus would come down and drag me off to the theatre district to watch crap like "Madame Butterfly" and other such ****e.

    London's a **** hole.

Ever been to Bayswater? 2 bed flat costs £1.5million there. It's a ****ing dump.

I have indeed been to Bayswater. Home of Whiteleys department store and the sadly missed Moscow public house. Bayswater was very shabby during the 60's and 70's, home to prostitutes and drug dealers but has gone up-market since then.

No wonder a flat costs £1.5mil there, sounds like a bargain.

Ladbroke Grove was the worst slum in London not so very long ago. It's gone very up market since you left., obviously

It's amazing how a gentrified Victorian suburb like Ladbroke Grove/Notting Hill/Bayswater etc turned into such a shoddy khazi after the war. Rachman and his ilk were able to throw families out on the streets and turn town houses into flats for a quick profit and now the trend is the exact opposite with wealthy developers creating single dwellings for astronomical sums.

I got priced out of The Grove over 20 years ago hence sampling the delights of Wood Green. The race riots in Notting Hill are a thing of the past and the West Indian population have also been victims of economic migration. What used to be a rough-as-ars*holes area is the haunt of poshies and celebs now.

Me leaving as the area became gentrified was entirely coincidental. Maybe.

I lived in Bayswater for about 6 years and used to work at the Golden horseshoe and drink in the Kings Head Moscow road.
I can pop in there any day of the week and still see my old croupier buddies.
Great coke dealer round there .
You are 5 mins walk from Hyde Park that's why you pay the big bucks.
