Where do you start, losing Cup Finals, Play-off defeat to Sunderland, not winning the PL when we should have, Four Relegations, countless other screw ups over the years. That said, I'm a NUFC Fan, so winning isn't the be and end all for me.

For personal reasons, if I have to pick one day, one game, it would be the 0 - 3 defeat to Sunderland on 1st February 2014.

For me, it was being humiliated 0-3 to Coventry at home in what was McFaul's last game as manager I think.
We were utterly woeful that day and no matter how bad we've been since.. it's burned into my brain how much that one hurt.

It does need to be said to keep the record straight. We did not lose the Cup Finals in 1998 and 1999. To lose you actually have to have turned up and in 1998 and 1999...

That sky favourite game losing 4-3 at Liverpool when we just knew we had blown it.

Strangely despite the relegations, watching us in my early days in the late 80's-early 90's, the various ****e we've had over the last 10 years, it comes down to 2 periods.

Sam Allardyce's reign here. It was just appalling. That wasn't football. Watching missiles launched at Owen and Martins, the complete lack of effort to play football properly. All this percentage ****e, all the round pegs in square holes, and then watching his fat gargoyle face try to gloss over it. It was just sickening. When I saw lads who had been going for a lot longer than I had just preparing to chuck in their season ticket, missing games because they couldn't take any more, I knew it was an all time low. The fact we were careering towards relegation (and we were before someone tries to rewrite history and convince me otherwise) was neither here nor there. The lack of entertainment was mind numbing. When I heard that Butt had rounded on him after 30mins of pre game advice with the classic line "Ok but what do you want us to do when we have the ball" told me all I needed to know.

The second has to be the end of Carvers 8 game run of defeats. Not since Allardyce had I seen a team look so hopelessly unprepared and clueless. It became ridiculous. To be honest its another feather in Pardews cap that we had amassed the points we had because that run of defeats should have relegated us. It turns out it was only a stay of execution with the marginally less **** McClaren sealing the deal.

09 relegation. I was in my final year at uni and my friends coaxed me out to watch it in a pub. Being a brazen 22 year old, I went out in my shirt, got drunk and told everyone that would listen we would smash villa, shearer was God and survival was a piece of piss. Cue full time, songs being sung at me by all and sundry and weeks of ribbing by everyone. I nearly failed my final exams <laugh>. I vowed football would never take such prominence over my emotions again!

Paying £90 to take my Dad to see us play Man City away. Being a goal down before we even got in the stadium (we arrived one minute after kickoff). Losing 6-0 with the most gutless performance I've ever seen from a football team.

    Oh where to start...
    - Beardsley and Gascoigne being replaced by Andy Thorne and John Hendrie under McFarland.
    - the 89 relegation.
    - losing 2-3 at home to man u in the fa cup in 1990, watched it in my full new Newcastle kit sitting on a bean bag in our living room. Cried when we lost.
    - most of the Jim Smith reign, when hideous dross like Gary Brazil and Mark Stimpson was in the team...and the absolute worst, Wayne bloody Fereday!
    - losing 3-4 to Charlton after being 3-0 up.
    - going to to Bilbao in Europe after being 3-0 up at one point in the first leg.
    - missing out on the title.
    - losing 2 fa cup finals in a row
    - going out to Marseilles in the Euro semis
    - the Spotting Lisbon fiasco under Sourness
    - AZ fiasco under Roeder
    - Allardyce half turning us into Bolton, ie we nailed the **** football, but not winning games
    - the 09 season in general, Keenan quitting, kinnear being a walking embarrassment, getting relegated.
    - Cabaret being sold
    -McClarens doomed reign.

The sacking of Bobby Robson. I'm not here to rewrite history, at the time it did feel like the correct decision but the way it was handled felt horrible.

I can handle losing a title we should have won. I can handle losing a cup final. We played brilliantly to get into positions to compete for those (that shearer goal against Tottenham in the semi-final).

I can accept loses and relegations but Bobby was a legend for us and in the country. He always acted with dignity and deserved the same, I don't feel he got it.

The sacking of Chris Hughton was just as bad imo, he'd taken on a job cos no other permanent manager could be found, inherited a relegated mess of a team with a meddling imbecile of a manager and dissatisfied fans, and made them champions by a club record number of points, firmly established them in the top half of the division, knocked Chelsea out the cup, just beaten Arsenal away and hammered the Mackems, and gets the sack for it and to rub salt into the wounds gets replaced by Alan bloody Pardew.

Made you feel dirty to support us and be in any way associated.

There have been may, many bad memories but hearing Joe Kinnear had been appointed manager is pretty high on the list. You know, just that feeling of "what the ****, is this a wind up or something?"

Losing at Blackburn in the 95/96 season was pretty soul destroying.

So many things to say about that match but I'll stick with "Schmeichel was the best keeper I have seen". He was awesome that game and irrespective of anything else he deserved to be on the winning side - his shot stopping, his presence, even his through-ball near the end of the game, he just pisses all over any of the keepers people talk about nowadays.
