Yeah I am seen as a bit odd for not getting excited about the 5 Nations and all that, the women do my nut in they have no idea of the rules and get all dressed up and go nuts about it, stupid slags.
.. bought the missus it engraved on welsh slate ... we keep it in the en-suite bathroom so she and the kids can practice it if they want without annoying anyone ... her two brothers are mad fanatics - have the welsh shirts and have played the game (one still does and to a fair standard) ... but neither of them can actually sing the anthem ... which I do find quite funny .. so much so that I've learnt a bit myself and sing it just to annoy them when it come on the telly
I'm quite open about not really being interested in nationality I was born in Wales but would never come back if I could afford to live somewhere nicer.
I have a mate who hails from Swansea, and there are times when I am more Welsh than he is. Do I win a fiver?
That's quite a Welsh bird phenomenon isn't it? There's load of them go to SIX nations games and they haven't got the first ****ing clue about what they are watching. They're more interested in dressing up as a daffodil or leek and getting gang ****ed by some 'rugby boys' after they've had about twelve pints.
It's some of the hospitality stuff that gets me. Back when I was managing money I got taken to the opening game of the 1991 W/C - England vs All Blacks. Great day out, great seats, etc. what really annoyed me was the handful of idiots who couldn't even be bothered to leave the bar and sit in their seat to watch the game. Meanwhile, there hundreds and hundreds of genuine fans outside the stadium who would have given their eye teeth for the seat these tossers couldn't be bothered to sit in!
Mate you can say the same about The Ashes, The Derby, almost all major sport events - it's about being taken there or being seen there that counts for some. i have been to loads of sports events as a hospitality guest and also hosted loads, but I always watch the sport
True, I know. Personally, if I had no interest in the sport I would decline. Unless it was politically important that I show my face. Got invited to Cheltenham one year. I have zero interest in horse racing, but it was a good mate's gig, so I went. ****ing hated it! Cold, wet, thousands of pissed up Paddies. Couldn't wait to get out of the ****ing place!..
