Hodgson says that there will be no diving or feigning injury from his players at the Euros. So does that mean Rooney, Sturridge, Vardy and Sterling will be benched the whole time?

Hopefully this isn't as bad as it sounds

Is it just me (the wife says it usually is) or should Roy Hodgson be in the middle of the front row rather than as Rooney's right hand man?

Mrs Brian says it's like having the ugly sister in the centre of the wedding photo's rather than the bride. She has 2 such sisters which is why we eloped.

Why Rooney is a detriment in big tournaments in a nutshell. Effective players at that level make their teammates better. Rooney has the old English habit of trying to take over the game.

Well I agree with you wholeheartedly up till your last two sentences. I think Alli is the one player who could take England places.

This is the crux of the issue. Rooney's not the player that he once was. His pace has gone. He can't go past players, he doesn't have the understanding with Kane that Alli does so that he'll be slower in releasing the ball forwards. He doesn't score significant numbers of goals any more. Sure, if we need to change things he has big game experience and might do that but anymore so than Carroll and an aerial threat or Rashford or Vardy's pace? I just don't see him being a starter in a winning team against the better sides (if at all).

Denmark won their friendly against Bulgaria 4-0 with Eriksen bagging a hat trick...but I'm waiting for an explanation why this match took place in Osaka.

Equally confusing is why Australia are facing Greece in back-to-back friendlies, both of which serving as ample reminders why most people hate watching the football Greece play - except Leicester fans, obviously, as they find it enthralling.

They did manage to win something, once, after decades of getting absolutely nowhere, and promptly disappeared again into the void, never to be heard from again.:emoticon-0104-surpr

... the only solidarity I have with the Greeks is that their country remains one of my favourite holiday destinations ... but they do have their name etched into a trophy forever ... which is vey nice :)
