It's difficult when you are dealing with hypocrites.
but mummy said suffer the little children -well someone did! if you start you must be prepared for whichever direction it moves in.The establishment should have taken heed of this when they joined battle with personal attacks. It always gets up our collective nose

Just think what may happen after the vote, a very narrow vote to remain. The Tory party tears itself apart and a vote of no confidence sees off Cameron as Tory leader. Boris takes over and after the Government lose a vote of no confidence Labour, against all odds, win a narrow overall majority on a manifesto of reckless public spending that will cause a massive run on the pound, a stock market crash and a major recession looms. The EU decides that they will intervene and run Britain from Brussels...

It couldn't happen? Under new powers just agreed it very well could happen...

A vote for Brexit is a vote for a new General Election - Gove/IDS cant just seize power and enact post-Brexit policies without a mandate. Any win for Remain means Cameron can continue governing with his mandate.

The EU intervening and running things from Brussels only happens in Farage's foil-wrapped head. We'll see how the country copes with a "massive run on the pound, a stock market crash and a major recession looming" next month with a Brexit - we won't need to wait for any imaginary Labour government for that

This is true Tooting well said

Cameron will go, Gove will win (because you cannot take Boris seriously can you ...please!)....but the pendulum may shift after we see how right wing a government we get....roll on Corbyn...and after several more momentous shifts of power (from right to left to right again) , we will be left with a ruin of half a country (scotland will have b***ered off by then)

That is the scary sceanario I see.

More bare faced lying by Johnson, saying we will have to pay for Eurozone bailouts and EU budget rises if we stay in, even though we have an exemption from the former and a veto on the latter. Apparently, he can say that because, in some parallel universe, it could happen. Presumably because he thinks the British are spineless and can't stick up for themselves in the councils of Europe, where these wily foreigners gang up on us and bully us mercilessly. Nice one, patriotic Boris.

What confuses me is why he stops at such lame lies when he could be much more exotic, using the same zombie logic. Here are a few ideas:
- if we stay in the EU, the Black Death is likely to kill 33% of us. Well it could happen
- if we stay in the EU, Christmas will be banned. Well it could happen.
- if we stay in the EU, every household will have to house two families of Syrian refugees for the rest of their lives. Well it could happen.
- if we stay in the EU, Boris Johnson's career will be ****ed.......

Actually, another news story revealed the true nature of the Johnson. He is a chimera, a pig/human hybrid bred to harvest genetically modified organs. Obviously he was an early prototype which somehow escaped and has gone feral. No one would actually want any of his corrupted and putrid organs.

Blimey, Stan the Turk, we've got another two and a bit weeks. Just watch that blood pressure...

What amused me was the plastic outrage from "Honest John" Major yesterday over the apparent deceit of the Leave campaign. After all, apart from the hyperbole and lies from the Remain side, Honest John was the man who was responsible for the debacle over the ERM and presided over Sleaze. And who can forget that Honest John cheated on his wife by shagging Edwina Egg-Curry.

For those readers for whom this last reference conjurs up Honest John and Egg-Curry bollock naked in sweat-slippery embraces on an unmade bed in a Lambeth bedsit amid loud suction noises, I wholeheartedly apologise.

I notice no defence of Johnson is being proposed. You wouldn't expect me to give a tinkers cuss what John Major says would you Goldie? I was amused too at the blue on blue action. I think the Tories are being very generous in levelling the playing field while Labour have two dodgy hamstrings.

Now that I know that whatever the outcome of the referendum we will be staying in the single market, I'm quite chilled about it all. Johnson baiting is a personal hobby.

Who did you get in the sweepstake? Get your flag up!

There are two things that I always trot out about economists. The first is that if you took all the economists in the world and laid them end to end, they wouldn't reach a conclusion. The other is that the definition of an economist is someone who understands with full clarity today why it was that the forecast he made two days ago about yesterday was wrong.
You are right to be cynical about economists, they are charlatans and fools. However there is one thing that over 90% of them have reached the same conclusion over. It will be bad for our economy to leave the EU.

At least Johnson says these things with a bit of a smile on his face. Cameron and Osborne expected us to believe Armageddon.

If, in the event of an OUT vote, REMAINIANS seek to bi-pass a democratic vote by locking us into unlimited immigration, I predict the biggest voters move to UKIP imaginable. Nigel Farage will be swept to power at the next election and REMAINIAN MP's will get custard pies in the chops wherever the go.

Flags - I only fly the Union flag and the flag of St George. What do you take me for? :emoticon-0100-smile

Ah, but are they correct? As we can only know the one reality, we can never know whether the alternative outcome would've been better or worse.

Poor old John Major, his government brought down by sleaze bags like neil Hamilton. Whatever did happen to him?

And cheating on poor Norma like that, now you wouldn't get Boris cheating on his wife would you!

Watched parts 2 and 3 now - challenging stuff for someone who is still struggling to come up with an answer to who we might be playing in our first game. An excellent, thought-provoking series which left me saddened and maddened. How can so many supposedly intelligent people get so much wrong so often?
Glad you found the time and felt it was worth it. I don't think it should be swallowed whole, but it has an eerie coherence about it. Economics, mass psychology, psychiatry, military strategy and political philosophy all driving in the same, malign direction from different start points. I think it just offered simple coda for politicians to follow, as always ignoring complexity.

Curtis has made a lot of these kind of things, and has a blog on the BBC web site, and a great film on the iPlayer called Bitter Lake about the west and Islam. I have a lot of time for him. He describes himself as a libertarian with a yearning for a left wing version of libertarianism. Me too.

Didn't David Cameron's organ grow inside a pig?
