I suspect if you asked people from other countries to say the first word that came to mind when thinking of Britain/ England then "Queen" would be high up, if not top of, the list.

I'm pretty sure she is a global icon - hell she probably has her face printed more than anyone else!

Spoke to Brian last time he was in Sunderland and thanked him for being part of my ABC years. He asked me what I meant and I said Ali Beatles and Clough, he just looked at me and smiled. <cry>

    Was generalising mate.

Look at the modern day footballer/boxer/sportsman/showbiz personality, they're usually covered in bling and usually have half the talent of either Ali or Pele for example. They were at the top of their respective professions when men were men and just got on with their work and in my humble opinion either of those two have more talent than any of todays so called superstars.

That's all i was trying to say.

That's cool mate, everybody should have their own opinion.

I agree with all of it in fact, apart from them two being superior to the guys of today.

Lionel Messi is the most gifted footballer of all time, personally I lean towards Ronaldo due to my United roots, but Messi is a freak of a footballer. When he's gone/retired people will accept this. We as a nation like the underdog so we don't like the Messi bandwagon... That's what it is in my opinion.

I'm not even mentioning Scholes, he was better than them all combined!!!
