Not sure where I have blamed anyone! I was suggesting that we are responsible for our own emotions, like when someone says to another "you're making me angry ", only that isn't really possible. I think this philosophy stems from Nichiren Buddhism and likely others cultures too. RK hasn't built him up as a last bastion of hope, you have. Notwithstanding this, none of us know what is/has really gone on. Until so, I usually hold my council until I am in possession of the facts. How will you feel if he either stays or that we were indeed pushing him out and that the mugs at Everton paid us handsomely got the privilege?
Was speaking to my eldest brother about this very subject today and he said that he still finds it hard to believe that someone so obviously open faced, plain speaking and apparently trustworthy could do such an about turn. We both agreed that Pochettino was effectively the better of the two men. Or more accurately, the least bad. He promised nothing and that was borne out, not that it gives him anything to be proud of. I just hope these men haven't turned Southampton supporters into totally cynical people because the essence of a fan is belief. Without it we are nothing.
I am an honourable person who keeps their promises and I don't believe that I am the only one left in the world. I can understand a family man on low wages saying that he couldn't turn down a pay rise, but this wasn't a poor man and he would have got another good job if he left after next season. The rich can afford better morals, so I won't listen to any ordinary joe who says he would have done the same.....Koeman had a choice.
What a wonderful decision by the European Court of Justice that has left us with a business where the contracts we hand our assets are worth nothing at all in reality.
I agree - I don't disbelieve the manager, but I also don't hang on their every word as a gospel truth - or rather I don't believe circumstances aren't changing every single day. This isn't a new or recent thing, it's been like this for decades. They're football managers, not cult leaders!
Sorry Fran, really can't agree with this. Morals have zero to do with wealth and you can't surely know all the facts here. Fair enough you feel let down, I get that, but think I'm gonna leave it here for a while as not sure many will agree with me, I said my piece and stand by it.
It's often said that morals are for the rich, as they can afford to have them. The bare truth is that once someone gets a significant pile together they tend to want more, simply because they are afraid of losing what they have. It's why, for a rich person, enough is never quite enough. Koeman is a millionaire several times over, let's not be in any doubt. So he can easily afford to say that his job isn't about the money. He can afford to be ambitious, from a self improvement perspective. And it still takes a real and genuine person to say that and be that, or a liar. He's turned out to be the latter. It kind of shakes your faith in people, but fortunately we have the people who have nothing. Amongst these are probably more people of true morals than anywhere else, for they have nothing to lose but their dignity, and that's worth more than any number of pounds sterling.
Just so you know where I was coming from. I read fault as a kind of blame. Sounds like those Buddists were early pioneers in controlling, manipulative and abusive relationships. Back on page 67* I actually said that I would wait for Ronald's right to reply on the issue, but the more we hear about things, the less likely the scenario of him offering to see out his final year seems and calling him names is good panto. I merely responded to your original comment because it reminded me of something from a sci-fi film "Tell me, what is this emotion you speak of?" *page reference is a guess
For most of us financial success would be to have paid off our mortgages and have a few thousand tucked away for a possible hip op later in our retirement. When you've just earned 5 million for 2 years work where is the incentive to move to a job for more money? There's nothing you can do with 20 million you can't do with 5. I have no idea what you do with 5 million. So it must be for fame but every famous person I've listened to has said the worst thing about fame is being famous. Maybe there's a very rich member of this forum that can explain the drive for more and more money?
The rich have always thought they do not have enough money while at the same time believing the poor have far too much. As a socialist I can just about live with capitalism it is greed I cannot tolerate and greed is all around us.
Hello, great stuff again from The Monday Night Club on Radio 5, if I am not mistaken. Usually, I'm listening to it while on here at this time. Just going to rectify that. For those who might want to dive over there and listen to this, may I suggest you leave it until later this evening when the programme finishes, then listen to it on iPlayer Radio. Then you'll able to listen to it from the beginning or even cherry pick. Here's a live link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07djlk6
I think the board have driven this to some degree. However while I could quite believe that the board (or maybe just Les) were trying to shunt him off by letting Everton talk to him, the way things have gone it would be hard to believe. I can believe they would do it but then they would not be able to spin Ron and Everton as the bad guys as they have and they definitely would not be able to come out openly stating they have not given permission yet as they did. The way this has played out pretty much puts that ITK to bed. However I am not so certain it was as plain sailing as he was going to sign with no problems and went on holiday then changed his mind when the money came into view. I just don't buy that. I think the way Les came out with his "everything is running smoothly" interview (as he has done before) was this board's tactic when something is not running smoothly. They get in first and make sure that the board is left looking like the victim. It just sounds far too simplistic to think that a contract which we have heard emphasised that the club wants the youth to be used more was sailing through with no problems, then all of a sudden when he comes back he changes his mind. I don't buy that. I think the board have had a hand in this decision and to me it seems more than likely before Les's interview that the 2 parties were not as close to signing this agreement as has been suggested.
In my opinion, it's indefensible. Did you watch the fan forum? Koeman knew how hurt the saints fans were when Pochettino left. He literally promised he wouldn't stitch us up in the same way. EXACT words. From the horses mouth. He's an absolute ****ing ****er in my eyes.
Sorry TSS, what a load of bollocks! You still don't know the facts, and what a generalisation the poor are some sort of moral ****ing compass and the wealthy are rats, laughable. RK hasn't spoken about these events, let's review when he has, but let's not judge due his apparent wealth. Ambition and morals are personal to the individual, not the bank account.
Yep, true. You'd have thought the World would be easing towards a more equal global society but it seems that, at present, it is going the other way.
