Your basing EVEYTHING on Guidolin and Paloschi off of them coming in after a sacking late in a season , close to relegation . Let's look at both ends of extremes here . Bony scored lots of goals and cost 4 million more than Palschi at 12 million . Ok ..... Michu scored as many as Bony and cost . 2 million . Paloschi came in late , in a relegation season , and got 2 goals in 7 starts ....over a season , under a sh:tty scenario that would be 11 goals in a season . One more , you want to have a go at Paloschi , over very uninspiring club play while he has been here , for costing 8 million ....but want to spend 15 to 20 million for Allen .....that's the biggest laugh of all . I never said " I " had a clue , show me ..... I say I trust who brought him in that he'll be fine imo
Guys we will do things the Swansea way because nothing will happen recruiting players without Jenkins say so....We have already seen mentioned players snapped up by other clubs while we sit still hoping that we get Bony and Joe back and that is a dangerous ploy to take......This is our 6th season in the premiership and its clear we need some better players than what we have got but i can see that Jenkins is firmly stuck in lower league mode and would rather buy cheap than quality and it's clear that no premiership team can do that or you risk another season in a relegation battle and this time we may not be so lucky.... Players are getting snapped up now and if we end up panic buying with nothing to choose from then Jenkins has not learned his lesson...
We get linked to every tom dick and harry, I never pay attention, until they are having a medical........... PS: @ Roofer & Valley, Play nicely now girls...........
Yes me the same..... we should be use to how jenkins likes to do things by now......it's the wrong way but it's his way. I can see us ending up with cheap Italian players from their lower leagues while we let Redmond and Townsend and payers of their caliber quickly being signed up by our rivals. every season is the same. we even lost players because we left things till the last minute and was told we were to late.....Someone else wants Bony now so our bargaining power has gone...
Another one from Serie A or should I say now Serie B and guess what he is going to be cheap. Please, can we just not sign average run of the mill Journey men from Italy. https://www.clubcall.com/swansea-city/boss-targets-italian-deal-1812358.html
I worry about our new found mindset that says we have to spend huge amounts on players and kick " Gem Hunting " to the curb . We have stayed up the first 3 seasons making good , cheapish transfers up till Laudrup and now we think we need to spend big money or we are fuked . While most want to go forward spending huge , I want to go back to the " Hunting Gems " to go forward . I'm comfortable with Guidolin to help us do this . If this right back is who he wants I say grab him .
Nobody is talking about spending millions and millions, I Just don't want to buy someone simply because they are free or cheap, it does work sometimes but not all the time. So we best only look in Italy, to old for me nothing to do with the price, I want people as Ns said who are after making a name for themselves even if we are a stepping stone, not someone who is after a last payment.
We don't know nothing about this guy , to say this is a " Terrible signing " is merely a guess . I have faith in our new manager to turn the hierarchy's head around and away from transfer decisions . Guidolin knows the people he wants and why .....that's good enough for me . Rodgers and Laudrup did an amazing job on the cheap ( barring Bony but we made a fortune on him ) and kept us up with no problem and I feel Guidolin will do the same . I want to get back to a + in the in and out transfer dealings .
We can just keep buying cheap, it almost cost us last season and will sooner or later bite us on the arse. I accept that this guy may be good enough none of us know, but it is a short term signing. I just think we can still look for reasonably priced players, but as I say ones who want to make a name for themselves, ones who have something to prove.
Not really , we bought two players last summer and didn't use them at all . We bought Palsoschi in the transfer window in January and got only 7 starts out of him . We brought Fer in on loan also We finished the season tied for the 2nd highest finish since being in the Premier with only 3 players bought in both windows and only got 9 starts from all 3 players brought in . EDIT: Yikes !! ... Forgot to put Ayew on the free in that .... A massive forget .
You are not listening to what I am saying, I am partly agreeing with you and I don't mind reasonably priced players, but hungry young ones, coupled with the experienced ones we have, they also have to be better or as good as what we have, so cheap yes but they have to be good enough, we just don't sign because they are cheap. it is pointless signing any players who don't improve the side or the squad, just because they are cheap and every club is looking for a bargain. I just don't want to go back to Italy just because Guidolin is Italian, none of our other managers have done that they have searched the wider market, looking in just one place is a concern for me.
Just because a player is old and cheap doesn't mean he can't be a Gem . Like I say , I trust the managers reasoning , even if I don't know what it is ....cheers
But there is then no resale and it is just to short term, surely we want a stable squad and side, so buy old players just doesn't work for me. I just worry about it being a last pay day as he will surely be on more money. Maybe it will work but it will be a short term fix.
We cant go cheap on a quality striker no matter what anyone says, While most teams are getting on with actually signing players we are searching for the cheapest we can find. I can see Bony being nicked under our noses if we don't make a deal soon.......we are all talk and no action.....
