Back to our rumours there is the one about scouts at the Netherlands-Austria match allegedly watching Wijnaldum

Assuming Koeman is interested at Everton I wonder who he would pick. Our dutch connection is now limited mainly to people who have played there as there is only Clasie on the books. But is that a factor? Does Europe make a difference? Perhaps not since he joined Newcastle in the first place.

I would suggest Everton are more likely to match/beat his Newcastle wages unfortunately

Perhaps it is "for" Arsenal and the source has it wrong. I am sure their are medical facilities where England are
Failing that it is only France. Not hard to get to and from anymore

On a side note is this Transfer Rumour for all clubs then? I know there is much more interest in saints but still...

Does anyone know anything about the striker Leicester are linked with to "replace" Vardy (per reports). Silmani.
I get the feeling that he is not a quick direct type and more of a hold up Pelle, Ulloa type player.

I don't really want to sit and watch youtube videos right now and I can't remember which site it was that showed player strength and weaknesses

I see even Dave Merrington is questioning the clubs "ambition". Why has ambition come to mean throwing money at any given situation?
Haven't Leicester shown that there are other ways of succeeding?
Today's managers all have to be highly qualified coaches and yet the only ones doing any work are the scouts, the black box boys and the money men.

If true the good news is that a first bid is rarely accepted unless a clause is involved.

Not entirely sure Leicester was what Vic was dreaming of as he looked longingly into his bowl of spaghetti dreaming of riches and the future.

I was just browsing Newsnow (5% real news the rest blogs, opinion pieces and rehashes) and there was an Everton post calling for them to ship out 5 players (at least) not counting anyone who other clubs might actually want to take and their lack of goalkeepers.

Kind of enhances my view from another thread that I will be really interested to see if Koeman can actually spend 160m at Everton and even if he can that what gets pulled together can actually push on.

I know we shouldn't really care but it is another fascinating dimension to the summer what with :

    - all the upheaval at the Manchester clubs
    - chelsea needing a rebuild,
    - Klopp's first summer window,
    - spurs trying to build a squad without upsetting the team or signing a load of expensive bench players like in the past,
    - Leicester potentially having to replace most of their stars and increase their squad,
    - west ham desperately trying to sing a marquee player and shouting about it to anyone who will listen...

Don't forget - Southampton selling all their best players, losing their manager and yet still strengthening their squad, league position and standing in the game. How does that happen?

Do we think this could be the end of the links with the Netherlands based players (some of which sound like / have been bargains)

I wonder how many of our signings are specifically "Koeman's". I am sure he helped convince some in but didn't decide on them alone (such as with Martinez and all the Wigan players).

I can only think that Clasie and Pelle might count as majority Koeman signings...

I remember Les Reed said in interview that Koeman had suggested Tadic when he first arrived and he was already a player who we felt was a target and someone who had been scouted fairly heavily.
I expect the club are keen to avoid further Osvaldo incidents, so I imagine any manager led signings are keenly scouted and approved, but the manager has to be the one with the final call as they're the one picking the team and ultimately responsible for results.

We've seen how badly the transfer committee model has worked at other clubs who have not given the manager the final say. I wouldn't say this would be the end of Dutch placed players as this is a good market for us financially, but Koeman was obviously comfortable with that league and that would have likely of made him more biased to that market.

    Osvaldo was a Cortese signing.
