I presume Ron know our summer plans are? Wonder if there is a clause that he can't disclose our preferred targets?

 

Impossible to enforce that. There'll be restrictive covenants, but they're not worth the paper they're written on. A nod or a wink whilst running through a list of names gets round that.

 

If ensuring we never sign Janmaat is a outcome of losing Ron, I'd drive him to Everton myself.

Surprising he's going ... thought he was rated quite highly?

 

He was rated very highly. Was considered to be one of Chelsea's best youngsters when he joined us a couple years ago.

 

Leicester. He's unhappy with the academy structure, perhaps more specifically the staffing issues that are still there, as are a few others.

 

Damn. What staffing issues? Dodd etc leaving? Or something else?

 

The Academy seems to be a really big problem at the moment. Can remember a couple posters mentioning that there seem to be disconnects between the scouts/management in getting players into the setup (ie., scouts were recommending youngsters, and nothing was being done to bring them in), and there have been complaints from players and their parents about the upper levels of the Academy, as well.

As a club that wants to rely heavily on internal development, this stuff needs to be fixed pronto, or we're going to have some very barren years.

 

Eh, I don't want to get too far into that at the moment, what with the new job and what not. Wouldn't be a good look.

I could give names and explain in reasonable depth, but not really for a public forum.

Maybe further down the line if my situation changes. Sounds like there's some unresolved issues, though.

 

Not the first time I've heard something along these lines ... is Ron not giving a chance the issue do we reckon (as I heard), or something else entirely?

Agreed - hoping it'll be a fresh start and a new chance for the academy lads.

 

Not going to start digging on Ron, I liked a lot of stuff he did, but the one department that he was failing was the youngsters. Be great to see someone come in & help bring on the careers of some of the players who have stalled like Reed.

 

... And that would be in line with the club's long term philosophy/business model.

 

No disagreement. Don't think that's the only thing wrong in the Academy, however...Debayo isn't the first player to register complaints, and like most he wasn't one who'd expect to be in the first team (owing to injury, in Debayo's case).

 

Goes deeper than that, although Ronald (and certain members of his staff) haven't been helpful.

 

Well we'd have to assume that it isn't any of the three leaving as they'll not be a problem anymore.

 

Aren't the three who are leaving the only ones who are "his" staff (well, technically Ron + 2).
The rest are club staff...
