I hate all this chasing the money stuff and with more money coming into the game it is getting to be beyond a joke.
That said, if we were offered double what we are on now for pretty much doing the same thing would we turn it down to be 'loyal' to our current employer?
Despite all that kissing the badge malarkey we have to remember that for the player, the club is simply their employer, although I accept that it can go beyond that times.
It is hard sometimes for us as fans to recognise that relationship. We want the players to think of the club in the same way that we do.

As MLsfc says, this is his one last chance to move. I bet he'd like to stay, but given the choice, and what it means for his legacy, he'd be stupid not to go. It is actually the human, rational choice - not like he's even turning down the chance to play CL football either. It would be different if he was 25.

I agree. Also, Arsenal will win the league next season, I feel fairly strongly.

I'm sure he feels he's paid back Leicester in spades for that faith, and I'd agree. He also did them a favour and signed a new contract to guarantee them more cash on his sale this summer.

A - Leicester won't win the league again.
B - Arsenal have an amazing stadium and are far more likely to win the league next season.
C - This is his one chance at a big move.
D - Arsenal are constantly in the Champions League.
E - Leicester could easily struggle next season and no one will come in for him.

I got the impression with Leicester that either they all stay or they all go (the good ones anyway).

If Vardy goes and it looks very likely, then I expect Mahrez and Kante to follow in a Saints style exodus. Shame, but at least they achieved something which will be remembered forever. They didn't go thinking 8th was the pinnacle

I don't think we can compare our lives to footballers'. There's a difference between earning 300 quid a week grafting on a building site for a ****er of a boss, and earning 80 grand a week doing the thing you love with all your mates by your side, and being very successful at it.

Sorry, but what?! You're making out like Arsenal are Real Madrid or something. Arsenal will get knocked out in the CL quarter finals at best. Whereas every single game Leicester play in that competition will go down in folklore for the fans. How is that not special? To the gooners, Vardy will be just another player, long forgotten after a season or two. And if Vardy doesn't hit the ground running, he will soon find himself benched.

    A - I wish I had a crystal ball too.
B - Big stadium with no atmosphere, or medium-sized stadium where the fans raise the roof every game? I know which I'd prefer.
C - No it isn't. He can just as well move in the January window if Leicester's season goes pear-shaped.
D - That may be so, but he will also have much more competition to keep his place in the team. You don't know who else AW might sign.
E - Leicester could also be around the top 4 all season, and progress past the group stages of the CL. Their title win was no fluke.

Leicester won't be around the top 4 this season. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they were nearer the relegation zone.

If - and only if - they lose Vardy, Mahrez and Kante, and for some reason refuse to spend the 100 million or so that they will recoup from those three, can I see them being near the relegation zone.

There's no point making predictions now, let's wait until towards the end of the window. Remind me in August Tom about this conversation so that we can have a proper bet (no money - just smugness).

They would have to spend the money wisely and not get caught up in overpaying (or being forced to overpay) due to their inflated transfer budget. It would be no surprise for them to be similar to saints and have a transfer profit / break-even signing multiple players at below the 20m bracket

Aren't their stories that Arsenal have met a release clause for Vardy and that Kante has one in his contract. If both actually have clauses I expect they will go because there will be an agreed price and they can capitalise on their increased profile that may only be fleeting

Fair enough. And I said nearer the relegation zone than the top 4, not actually near it.

I don't think so. I'm calling car crash. Vardy will have made 12 runs by the time they actually get the ball into the box. He'll be stood knackered with his hands on his hips wondering why on earth they didn't deliver the ball earlier :)

Although Vardy wont be competing with Henry and Bergkamp for a starting place.

My thoughts exactly. Vardy relies on quick, early service, so he can run into space.
Arsenal take an age to move the ball forward, giving him less room in which to utilise his pace.
This smacks of Arsenal weakening a rival, for a relatively small fee, buying someone who will get goals IF the service is right.

It is a case of will Wenger set up to suit Vardy? If not I agree with fatletiss that it has car crash written all over it (see the Portugal friendly from a couple of days ago)
