It's a demographic impossibility given Hillary's high polling among black and Hispanic voters. There just aren't enough angry white people in the US to get Trump elected. Unless no one else bothers to vote.

Surely no sane person could argue with the assertion that all Trump supporters deserve a jolly good kicking?
No one should be maligned for their political views - that's what living in freedom in a democracy is all about.
Well obviously. But every time I look at Donald Trump I feel an overwhelming urge to hit him in the face with a shovel. Surely you can't blame ordinary Murr-cans for giving in to a similar urge where his supporters are concerned?
Interesting question. In the US, the First Amendment to the Constitution is generally supposed to ensure freedom to express any and all political beliefs (it doesn't apparently apply to commercial expression), but this is not an absolute right. Organisations like the Ku Klux Klan have used the First Ammendment to assert their right to express views that many people would find repugnant. However, speech likely to incite "imminent lawless action" may be excepted from protection. Which could mean that on those occasions when Trump has appeared to incite his followers to beat up or punch opponents, he may indeed have been in breach of the law. In most European countries, the balance between freedom of speech and incitement to criminal behaviour probably leans more towards the possibility of holding people to account for the things they say, than would be the case in the US.
It is quite unbelievable that millions of Americans will try to put this fellow in power. Personally, I find him a rude, despicable, odious, bullying, fascist, son of a bitch. Which means of course, just in case I have not made myself clear, I really don't like him.....
His one redeeming feature is that he isn't a career politician who is just in it for his own personal gain. I am so disgusted with self-serving politicians the world over that I would welcome the change that Trump would bring. I'm not saying I agree with all his views but at least he isn't some soft liberal who fawns to political correctness - I've had more than enough of those - and he has tons of money so won't be open to financial coercion.

I have to say I'm stunned that this is the best the US have got. I agree with Oddy that certain elements of no nonsense from Trump are refreshing from the career politicians (see the champagne socialists at Labour pre-Corbyn) but of course the danger is that one outspoken word at the wrong time to the wrong person and we could have any situation flair up. I'd be concerned what his foreign policy might look like. What's incredible is that this guy has millions of supporters yet in the UK people are absolutely hounded for supporting any of Farages views. It's always interesting to see the differences. I'm intrigued how it plays out because although Hilary should win, she appears to have the charisma of a wet fart and on the campaign trail Trump could, scarily, tie her in knots.
Trump's (his name would imply something close to the wet excretion you refer to?) supporters hardly represent "The Discreet Charm Of The Bourgeoisie"? Your opinion of Hillary Clinton's charisma is very Trumpish in itself, erm, the Bourgeoisie might prefer to use "False Friend" for this minor calamity?
I've never been described as Trumpish before but I can assure you I'm not quite the maniac he is! I'm a little disappointed in the US election actually, if have thought they would have much stronger candidates than these two. Bernie seemed a really shrewd guy so it's a shame he hasn't made it but there we go. The public decide- in this case that might be a scary thing!
