Sunderland are reported to have lodged a bid worth £11million for West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho. As reported by the Echo earlier this week, the Black Cats have been tracking the Senegalese forward, who made a big impact in his first season in the Premier League. Sakho was signed for £3.5million from Metz in the summer of 2014, netting 12 goals in 26 games during Allardyce’s spell in charge at Upton park and Sky Sports are now reporting a bid worth £11million has been lodged with the Hammers. West Bromwich Albion are also tracking the 6ft 1ins striker, who is reported to be ready for a new challenge. Allardyce and Sakho didn’t always see eye-to-eye during their time together, but he made an instant impact in a Hammers shirt, scoring eight goals in his first 10 games. Sunderland are looking to bolster their attacking options, with out of contract duo Danny Graham and Steven Fletcher set to be released and Sakho – who has grown frustrated in London – could fit the bill. The 26-year-old, who scored seven goals in 24 appearances last season, is expected to be among several players allowed to leave West Ham. Id be very happy with him. Hes already proven he can be a success in the Prem instead of risking paying 11m for an overseas player that wont settle. We cant afford to make anymore big money mistakes. My only problem with him is his off field behaviour. Hes made a few headlines for the wrong reason over the last year.
I think the lads a good option for us, £11million given the new TV deal is probably just about acceptable. Sam wouldn't sign him a second time if he didn't rate him and that's enough for me.
Be a bit underwhelmed with this one tbh. Rather we spent a few million more on someone a bit more prolific
Slim pickings though mate, I think what's important for us is to spread goals around a wee bit. Khazri and Borini should get more, if we have Defoe getting 10-15 and someone like him getting 8-10 we should be ok. We need M'Vila done please!
Would be a good solid signing. 11 mil is slightly too much considering they paid 3.5 and he hasn't been amazing for them but if that's what it takes then so be it.
Yeah, probably about 3m more than I would have thought. What I'm more concerned about, is that his surname doesn't begin with a K
The West Ham fans don't want him to go reading there comments last week, that alone makes it sound promising?
Don't know much about him to be honest, never really paid any attention to him when West Ham have been on the telly, but he seems to have a decent scoring record from a couple of years ago and was injured for a big chunk of last season. If he's a 10 - 20 goals a year striker then £11 million is a good price especially for a player just reaching his prime years. Not a signing to get excited about but could turn out to be a good bit of business (if he signs that is)
Is he better than the likes of Graham, Altidore & Fletcher. If the answer is yes then it's progress for me.
I don't see him as a wide forward. So he either shares the forward role with Defoe, or, Sam will be returning us back to 3-5-2, for next season. It's not beyond the realms of possibility because he did try us with that formation, pretty much when he first came into the job. It seemed he realised quickly we didn't have the players to suit the system and reverted back to what we were comfortable with.
