    <laugh> <doh>

But @SuckMyKlopp insists that £65k is 'minimum wage' for a PL goalkeeper. Does this mean that Buffon lives below the poverty line? <confused>

So he's saying Spurs are paying Lloris a couple of grand above the minimum, but Liverpool are paying Mignolet five grand under it?

I think the real question is who the hell thinks Mignolet is worth sixty grand a week in wages...

I'd love to know how certain people on here are so convinced they know what players are earning.

I'd love to know how the FA are so convinced that Roy Hodgson is a football manager. This is horrendously bad.

Odd story of the day: remember Musa Yahaya, the Nigerian teenager we signed a couple of years ago who has never played for us as he hasn't qualified for a work permit? According to his intermediary, Porto have signed him for £650k - but rather than Portimonense receiving the fee, we have. Is anyone not scratching their heads at that one?

Given the stories of Lloris are flying around, it's been reported that Mechelen's 16 year-old keeper Jonathan de Bie is on the verge of signing for us...just like he was three months ago.

As for what clubs pay their players, it's easily researched.

Dembele posted this picture of him tapping up some of his fellow countrymen, yesterday:

    Something like that, anyway.

Either there's some last minute contract renegotiations going on (which is what Hull are doing with Huddlestone right now) or, a little more likely, he's one of the few players who was available at the time of the interview given the number of players who were away for international fixtures this week.

Well I guess that rules out Marc Bartra...

As a knock-on it probably kills any hope of signing Samuel Umtiti as an alternative. Barca are said to fancy him as Bartra's replacement.

Hey-Ho, I would rather we gambled on our current crop of centre halves than overspent on that position and had insufficient funds elsewhere. If we can do both, then great. If not, then CCV may be able to make the leap and if we buy to strengthen the pivot, there is always Eric Dier until January. At this point our money would be best spent on absolute quality and trying to buy better than we have. Improving upon Toby Alderweireld may be a bit difficult! The only alternative would be to buy someone to allow us to turn Toby into the world's best defensive midfielder, which I think he could very well have in him. Him and Mousa Dembele? Wowee!!

Because we haven't had a Batshuayi post in a couple of days: Belgian website Het Laatste Nieuws are not trying to prove that German isn't the world's ugliest language, but they claim that Batshuayi has rejected the Spammers in favour of Spurs...most likely because nobody likes the sniveling little creep who copies the work of the person sat next to them. There's just one slight drawback to getting it done: Marseilles have decided that, rather than the fee that's been quoted since January of between £20m and £25m, now Marseilles have decided they want more than £30m for him.

There's one problem with Marseilles playing silly buggers: we're still looking elsewhere, and they're giving us plenty of reasons to do so. On that front, sporting director Georg Heitz is saying it would be best for Breel Embolo to further his career with a move abroad (and I get the feeling he wasn't talking about Red Bull Leipzig...), while the Portuguese press are reporting that Islam Slimani's £23.5m release clause expires on 30th June - and just to stir the pot, Sporting manager Jorge Jesus has said that Slimani will score twice as many goals as Vardy if given the proper coaching - or maybe he thinks Vardy will follow in the footsteps of Francis Jeffers.

Not bothered about Wanyama really. I perceive him as being a bit of a card magnet, though to be fair Dier is no shrinking violet in that regard so maybe I'm being a bit harsh.

Going back to the silly buggeriness of Marseilles for a moment, it seems obvious what's going on there: the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) have strict guidelines regarding the financials of all clubs within the French league system, and have an organisation to go over every teams' accounts and impose sanctions on every team who fails to comply - and by complete coincidence, teams need to have their figures in order by the end of this month.

As has already been mentioned a few times on here, OM have at least three first-team players who will be out of contract this summer (Nicolas N'Koulou, Steve Mandanda, Lassana Diarra), plus they'll be losing the various loanees dotted through their squad (i.e. Florian Thauvin, Mauricio Isla, Steven Fletcher, Lucas Silva) it doesn't take long before you can see what they're up to.

    Hugo says:

“I have faith in Mauricio Pochettino and with Toni Jimenez, the goalkeeping coach, the club is in a very good dynamic, the young players are in the England team and we are building something strong. It is very positive. I don’t even think about leaving. For me, the adventure is on course.”

Apparently, Levy has indicated our transfer intentions and that has convinced him as to where his future lies. It's encouraging given that we've been very quiet so far.
