    ffs <doh> <grr>

"It was a big night for him. He is a big, strong possibility for us to start the season."

i hate to be the prophet of doom or something, but i can't see him having a long term future at the club. maybe in the o'shea mould, but not a regular starter. he's 22 this year, wasn't that impressive for wigan, and if he had anything about him in my opinion he wouldn't have been sent out on loan last season and would have been given gibson's spot in the squad.

If Fergie thinks he is good enough to start, then that is fine by me.

I thought he was excellent last night, second only to Nani`s great display.

He was one of Wigans best players last season, thats not bad for a 21 year old lad playing in the top flight for the first time.He has a lot more to his game than Lampard did at his age and he has come through our ranks, we should give him a chance, he is comfortable in possession, has an eye for goal and has a good engine. All traits we have been crying out for in Midfield.

Welbeck also went out on loan also last year and both have come back better players and both lads are United through and through.I think they will both have long careers at United.

He was quality for us (Watford) when he came on loan for a year with us. I know it's only the championship but he created and scored goals and if i remember correctly he even scored a few freekicks. Definately got a lot of potential, hope he can live up to it.

I doubt he will get many games. The likes of Anderson, Carrick and Fletcher will be ahead of him.

Give the kid a chance, see what he can do. Can't hurt to give him some games. From what I saw from him at Wigan he was OK if hardly spectacular, but remember a lot of players start their pro careers slowly and only start showing their best form after some time. Fletcher for example looked awful when he first appeared in the first team but he progressed and developed into a pretty good player. There's only one way to find out how good Cleverley really is and if we fail to sign a top central midfielder could do a lot worse than give him a chance

No way is he the replacement we need.

Anyone know if Sneijder will talk today?

Do find it strange that he has yet to commit to Inter.

he'll be playing the 'gibson role' next year. Hopefully, with a little more effect.

There's absolutely no chance of him featuring ahead of Anderson and Carrick. He has a long way to go in terms of establishing himself as a regular in the team.

" if he had anything about him in my opinion he wouldn't have been sent out on loan last season "

If I am not mistaken, Beckham was sent out on loan, and he didnt do too badly on his return.

Give the kid a ****ing chance.

To be fair theres been alot of 21 year olds who have done great in the prem, ronaldo, rooney. if cleverly could be scholes replacement he'd already be fighting to be in the man united first team.
And to be fair Mccarthy wigans young midfielder was far more imperssive last season. but i do agree with you, you should at least give the kid a shot, who knows he might step up and become a great for all anyone knows.

    Random question.

who do you guys want to play in the first team on the wing?

Young, park, nani or valencia? as they all have their strengths and their all class. or is it going to be like last season? park and valencia for the big games With nani and young being impact subs on those games and vice versa for the slightly easy games?
