I had an office on the 41st floor in midtown and I had to sit with my back to the window or I felt dizzy. My boss had a full length window in his one floor up and I absolutely hated going up there for a "one on one" as it meant I ended up looking past him and shuddering. I think he thought it was me being nervous of him, the dick In high winds you could feel the building sway ..... Interesting times! But in a plane? No issues - as Chilco says, I trust technology and know there's nothing I can do, so go along with it........
I was fine with heights until I did a bungee jump. From that moment on, whenever I get near an edge my body goes into a massive panic response. I think my unconscious is saying "hey, he's going to do that stupid thing again. No idea how we survived it last time, but we probably won't this time, so let's scare the living hell out of him so he gets away from the edge". Hence, no issue with planes.
None of you guys like diving off the top board then? I did it for the first time a few weeks ago in Worthing, it's still terrifying everytime I go up there. The water comes up to you (or you go down to it) very quickly!
Don't know what's worse, thoughts of touching that spider or being up on that platform! Actually, I don't think I'd have reached that height, my heart would have given out by then. Just to show how bad I am with "heights": see the second photo? The walkway towards the bottom left going up towards the centre of the photo? The only way I could cross that was to hold my Mum's hand... I was in my late 20's at the time If the image doesn't show (as it's not on my work PC) go here http://www.saundersfootpinelodges.co.uk/location.html please log in to view this image
I went to the dam that Bond bungee jumps off at the start of Goldeneye. Had to crawl off it on all fours my reaction was so extreme. Horrid!
I'm more scared of getting up thereafter having told my kids I'm going to dive off it, then have them eatch me walk back down in disgrace!
I have said twice in the last day and several times in the last few weeks. Super Kelvin Davis. Let's call it something like Super Kelvin's Diner.
