To be honest,I cant believe there arnt more teams sniffing around.Wasnt he the premierships second leading scorer last season?...for 1.5 mill is peanuts!...Can just see him going to Villa.Hes gotta be worth at least 2.5 mill. Hope its too late, but seems that all thats happened is that they have agreed a fee and are talking personal terms.Sometimes players have fees agreed by 3 or 4 clubs,so its by no means cut and dry....massive blow if we dont get him
They say the early bird catches the worm... This guy's been in the reckoning for weeks. Whilst I understand that some of the pontificating might have been due to boardroom uncertainties, where does the best interests of the club come into the equation? We managed to turn up for friendly matches on time... Oh well, que será será I suppose.
in reply to ↑ @Smudge1962 Paul Smith @QPRLiam The deal is done. I'm not sure why their is a delay in the announcement.
Didnt the story come from the 'Mirror'?...Isnt Paul Smith at the miror?...now hes saying its a done deal!
On 13 goals, I wouldn't think so '67. I can't be bothered to Google it. It was a fair return for him though; 1 in every 2 starts
I think the stat was 2nd top scoring Englishman, but don't quote me! And I reckon he'll get confirmed today.
Last years Prem scorers DJ not bad if you look at 15th! 1 Carlos Tévez 20 Manchester City 1 Dimitar Berbatov 20 Manchester United 3 Robin van Persie 18 Arsenal 4 Darren Bent 17 Aston Villa 5 Peter Odemwingie 15 West Bromwich Albion 6 Andy Carroll 13 Liverpool 6 DJ Campbell 13 Blackpool 15 Didier Drogba 11 Chelsea 15 Wayne Rooney 11 Manchester United Next year:? Adel Taarabt 15, Jay Bothroyd 15, DJ Campbell 14, (Alejandro Faurlin,Keiron Dyer,Hogan,HH, Patrick, Defenders, Others) 15 between them plus a slice of luck as we must get a couple of OG's 60 goals enough to stay up if we can hold out at the other end... I am hoping that we also have players who can keep the ball and stop the big boot upfield. if we keep the ball they can't score
If this is true we are on a hiding to nothing. With a very public wage cap in place Villa can simply argue that they will beat any offer. I'm not saying that DJC will start anywhere on £25k but the principle is still true: QPR (2nd richest club in the world - pah!) can always be outbid.
Hope we get him. He would give us several options. If we go with one up front, either DJ or Jay can play this role. Both have pace, reasonable power and can score goals. They can rotate and allow for loss of form, bookings, injuries etc etc. Having them both will also let us play a 4-4-2 from the start or go 4-4-2 for the last 20 mins if we are chasing a goal. Its been a long long time since we had two strickers of this capability. Fingers crossed.
DJ was the second highest scoring Englishman behind Darren Bent. This is dragging on too long, hope you're right about today Norths.
