I can honestly say I havnt got a clue Kenny likes 442 mainly but has dabbled with 352 also. But with the abundance of CMs maybe 433 would be best, but I dont remember KK playin it I would say give 433 a go and see if it works What I would say is ,whatever formation we play must get the best out of Suarez, hes our most important player now, if we tried 433 and he wasnt involved I would say we had to change it,cos in the long run, havin Suarez involved in as much of the game as poss is our best chance of success.
To be perfectly honest, I don't know. There are so many formations which we could use which could get the best out of the team. Kenny gets paid to work out these things so i'll trust his judgement.
Always have liked the 3-2-3-2, personally. Keeps 2 more defensive mids, but quite a bit of attack. Dunno for liverpool, tbh.
I'm not sure that would work because we don't have 2 super good DMs. Spearing and Lucas could be played, but I have a feeling we'd be ousted when it came to tracking back, especially if we just had Carra on his own. We'd need a quick central defender.
A lot of people say Kenny is a ''4-4-2 manager''. However I agree and disagree with this opinion,I believe Kenny sets his formations up to find chinks in the oppositions armour. The more options he has...the more formations he can use. With the different types of midfielders he has now..he has more options to vary his approach. Another thing is that, the sign of any good side is the strength of its bench....and I reckon our bench is as good as anyones at the moment, and will only improve. I believe we are 2 players short of our 2009 level..squad wise and 3 players to be beyond that, and it doesn't take a genius to work out which areas they are needed in.
At lot depends on whether KD wants to risk Suarez in the game against Sunderland. With Suarez; --------------------Reina----------------------- -Johnson---Agger-------Carragher------Insua-- ---Merieles-------Lucas---------Adam--------- --Suarez--------Carroll---------Downing------- Without Suarez; -------------------Reina-------------------- --Johnson---Agger-----Carragher---Insua -Merieles---Adam------Lucas-------Downing -------------Kuyt-------Carroll-------------- I don't really see an out-and-out replacement for Suarez in out squad tbh. But overall, I'd expect the formation to change during the season against different teams. Oh also, Insua is only there if we don't buy a Left Back in the transfer market, if we do then Insua wont start.
--------------------Reina----------------------- -Kelly---Agger-------Carragher------Johnson-- ---Merieles-------Lucas---------Adam--------- --Suarez--------Carroll---------Downing------- Without Suarez; -------------------Reina-------------------- --Kelly---Agger-----Carragher---Johnson -Kuyt---Adam------Lucas-------Downing -------------Aquilani------- -------------Carroll-------------- 3-5-2 for some away games is also an option. Gerrard fits into both formations easily of course.
4-3-3, 4-2-1-3, 5-3-2 are the likliest options in my opinion. 4-2-1-3 is for teams that like to pile on the pressure, 2 DMs (Spearing and Lucas) help to absorb that pressure and start a new attack via the CAM. Best utilised with wingers such as Hendo and Downing to feed in crosses to Carroll. Swap Henderson for Suarez, and possibly switch sides with Downing. ----------------Reina------------------- ---Kelly---Carra-----Agger----Aurelio---- -----------Lucas---Spearing------------ ------------Aquilani/Meireles------------ ---Hendo------Carroll--------Downing--- 4-3-3 is probably our most likely starting formation for most of the season, especially against the lower teams. ----------------Reina------------------- ---Kelly---Carra-----Agger----Aurelio---- ------Meireles---Lucas----Adam--------- ----Downing-----Carroll-------Suarez--- Depending on the team we're playing, Carroll could be swapped for Kuyt, Suarez moved to Downing's position and Maxi come on for Downing. This would work for the more physical teams like Stoke. 5-3-2 will probably be used against big teams with good attackers. 3 CBs is a risky strategy because the flanks are somewhat exposed, although if the opposition has no clear cut wingers (like Nani for example) then it's a very good defensive lineup. --------------------Reina------------------- ----------Kelly------Carra------Agger------- -Johnson--Meireles--Lucas--Adam--Downing- -------------------------Suarez------------ ------------------Carroll-------------------- Looking through the teams I think it's a shame there's no obvious place for Kuyt, but that's the problem with him. He's not particularly naturally gifted, but he gives his all and so you look at more skilled players and decide to put them in first.
expensive cover,I think Kuyt,Suarez and Carrol will rotate upfront .Kuyt was never a wide right man,as hard as he tried and always looks better up front.Henderson looks a better bet out there, certainly better than Mereiles
You could be right, it's really hard to fit all the midfield into a formation. I like the idea of Kuyt as cover for the front two and think Henderson could do well on the wing.
without gerrard i would like to see us line up like this ......................Reina...................... Johnson..Carragher..Agger/Skrtel...Aurelio/Flanagan ......................Lucas......................... ..Henderson......Adam......Downing Suarez/Kuyt....Carrol
Our best games so far have been 4-4-2 - Utd, Brum and Fulham. But let us not forget KK's titanically talented triiumvirate that was: BARNES ALDO BEARDSLEY And that's a magic number.
I actualy think Adam might play an important role this season. Don't ask me why, just have a good feeling. My line-up would be: -------------Reina--------------- Kelly - Carra - Skert - Johnson ---------Lucas - Adam---------- Kuyt--------------------Downing -------Suarez - Carroll--------- Something like that. I think it's important we don't isolate Andy up front.
He's too injury prone, and it's a waste of a sub having to bring him off after 30+mins, and to be honest I really don't rate him as a Left Back anyway. We desperately need a Left Back in the transfer window.
Ze Liverbird. Heres my scenario. 1.For most teams at home. Reina. Kelly Carra Agger Johnson. Henderson Lucas Mereiles Downing Suarez Carroll. 2.Better opposition and occasionally away from home Reina Kelly Carra Agger Johnson. Lucas Adam Gerrard/Mereiles. Suarez Downing Carroll. Against Sunderland. Reina Kelly Carra Agger Johnson. Adam Spearing Henderson Mereiles Downing Carroll.
