If I had access to fibre then it would, without doubt, be PlusNet. I used to recommend Eclipse but they have pulled out of the domestic market which is a foolish move, in my opinion. From what a few of my customers have told me of their experiences with Vermin Media, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
Is anyone else thinking given the faster and faster speeds as to what exactly are you going to do with that extra one tenth of a second that you've just acquired because it took 3 tenth of a second to download as opposed to 4 tenths.
A very good point indeed, perhaps a slightly longer orgasm will be in order for some......not moi I hasten to add
Half way there, I am afraid. We have taken a cottage (not ready to move into yet) on the North coast of the Llŷn between Aberdaron and Nefyn. I think that the nearest mainline railway station will be Dublin. Certainly, the mobile phone network picks up Eirecom more often than Vodaphone, despite what that fecking advert says. Anyway, that's month's away so there's a couple more months in the motorhome which is always good as there's new local gins to discover and sample.
You really don't need internet to be that fast. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think 3mbps will give you HD TV streamed and 15mpbs will give you 4k TV streamed. As far as I can tell, you only need faster if you have more concurrent users. Even for downloading torrents (which I rarely do) I don't think I've ever come close to the 50mbps I pay for.
I've never heard anyone say bad things about Virgin Media's broadband but I have heard stories about BT's et al's poor services and customer service levels. The only problem I ever had with Virgin was when I had a TV package as well and they were continually hiking the prices up. What problems have your customers had?
I'm with Virgin on their best internet and since upgrading to the new router I have had a lot less trouble. If I need to stream a game on Kodi through the laptop (which can have other processes working in the background) whilst my Mrs being on her iphone and the bairn on youtube or whatever on the ipad and then me occassionally twittering or Fb during the game, it can be quite a strain but the new router is a lot better, it stops me putting everyones devices onto 4G and shouting everytime the game buffers!
The usual. Outages and slow repair times. And customer services which don't seem to be on your side. When Vermin Media works I do have to say that it works well. I know, I have been spoilt with Eclipse, in all of the dozen or so years I have been with them there has never been an instance at the old Sheep Shed (the English name of my old cottage, Cwt Defaid) where Eclipse was at fault whilst my clients have had no end of issues with their set ups.
I have the same on a 12 month contract now. Got sick of the price going up all the time so cancelled my TV package. I can't fault the broardband though. I get pretty close to that 50mbps usually. Didn't want to change providers and the broardband not be as good.
I work for BT. Currently the Only independent supplier of bb is Virgin. Do you remember all those years ago the green pipe being put in the street? That is theirs now. I am not saying customer service etc is good, I dont know. But I am pretty sure all other companies use the BT network, the only difference is the equipment in the exchange and customer. Sky, I think, are looking to link up with Virgin, not sure though.
