It's ****e but I understand fully why many chose not to go. Edit: I'm actually quite proud that it was ****e, it means people have had enough of those in charge. Whether they're families who chose not to go because they can no longer afford to take their kids next season. Would you go & celebrate something you've been priced out of? Whether it's oldies who have been told they must now "Earn Their Stripes" despite sticking around through times when stripes were earnt properly. Whether it's the man who's had enough of the regeme & will only return once they've gone. Whether it's the man, woman or child who wouldn't bow to Wembley's excessive prices. Everyone who made a stand I'm proud of. The Leeds, United, Liverpool, Chelsea & any other day trippers who chose not to go this time despite gracing us with their presence on our previous trips, you weren't missed. It was a better day without you.
It's notable that Sheffield United fans didn't have the tantrums that the Sheffield Wednesday fans had over us not selling our allocation - granted it wasn't to the same degree.
Didn't we take over 30K for that though? I know it was at Wembley, but that was for a semi final & not an actual final.
I know some big Wednesday fans and they bemoan the lack of atmosphere at Hillsborough compared to years back. Same reasons in many instances. The atmosphere they created on their Kop despite it having no roof used to be tremendous.
Its no coincidence that German have better atmospheres coupled with standing and cheaper entrance fees. Do they also have more traditional saturday afternoon kick offs.
Some comments from Blades on Sheffield United Mad. Credit to the Hull fans who didn’t turn up because they’ve cost the porkers a fair amount in gate receipts. From that link - 'the hull fans do not deserve promotion' ----------- FOR ****S SAKE!! ITS NOT ABOUT WHO HAS THE BEST ****IN FANS!!!! OR WHO HAS THE MOST!!! WHEN WILL THEY ****IN UNDERSTAND THIS?!!!!! ---------------- They sold out their allocation for a play off final and made a good atmosphere. That's a top effort, but not exactly unheard of. Yet now they're the best fans in the country if not world. Unbelievable! -------------- Humour in defeat, don't think they'd be much on the M1 home yesterday but there was plenty in my local, as bad a play off final display ive seen since our non turn up against burnley ----------------------- Fair doos to the Pigs, Westwood is a fantastic keeper! But I think they'll struggle to keep him now cus the big boys from the Premiership (like Hull) will come a calling. I've no idea how good Hull's current keeper is mind, I don't think he had a serious shot to save did he? Westwood alone prevented a 4 or 5 -0 drubbing. MOTM for the pigs Such a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -------------- McNulty, Stanoblade, Sexypistol, Brewer, Mark Pits Moor Pig, Princess Pork, Banno.....BANNO...can you hear me....your boys took a hell of a beating
Hull City 1 The 40,000 nil It's like the Battle of Thermopylae between Sparta and Persia, except we won.
the FA need to get a lot of money to pay for wembley but the are doing everything in their power to devalue the competion
Their regular season attendances seldom were above 23,000 other than local matches, festive season and at the end when they were all getting hyped up. If you take off say 10,000 for day trippers and recognise that both Hull and Rovers were playing at the same time .FC attendance was 11,000 and Rovers fans already had plans in place the attendances would have been comparable.
That Wednesday team would be up the creek in the PL, Derby would have beaten them too in the final, Forestieri would get in our team and that's all
