three lions and vindaloo were great fans songs. They were sung in the stadium from the first game onwards. I personally prefer vindaloo because three lions because it's much more aggressive and to me is what football does to you. More aimed at the adult fan and showing passion, delirium, craziness and dare I say drunken gobbledegook. Three lions was cool hearing Wembley singing it in 96 but it was all a bit nicey nicey in comparison. Na, na, na, na, na, na we're gonna score one more than you....ENGLAND.......hic I remember watching England beat Spain on penalties in the Lincoln City bar at the ground. It was an afternoon match on a Saturday if I remember rightly. The mood in Britain (This is 90s) was awesome at that period and I remember going on a pub crawl with one mate and loads of people we didn't know which just got bigger and bigger. It started in one pub where for a couple of hours everybody was just loading Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, The Farm etc on the jukebox and the whole pub was singing it. Then about 30 people decided to walk into town going from pub to pub and we followed. We walked all the way up the hill and by the time we had got to the top the party was about a hundred strong singing Altogether now non stop all the way. Got home about 6am the next morning absolutely battered and we had been drinking a serious amount of real ale and lager that day. Must have been close to our record (we used to tally the rounds)
20% of the players in Euro 2016 are from the Premiership: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36425580 Interesting statistical article but no conclusions - what do you draw from this?
Now i'm in the mood. (Thanks Fats for hijacking this thread!) Watch this from the beginning (quality isn't all that though) and tell me you don't get goosebumps! COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!
Also, for those of you that are now sure of the National Anthem, whilst i sort of agree sometimes this is how to do it. EVERY player belting it out:
Ahem! Has anyone actually SEEN Dusan's goal? With his RIGHT foot? Perhaps someone has been teaching him that it's not just for standing on?
I'm English through and through, but the only World Cup song that I really like is 'I Have a Dream', sung by the 1982 Scotland World Cup team, written by BA Robertson, with John Gordon Sinclair (Gregory, of Gregory's Girl) singing the solo bits. If I was more technically savvy, or more patient, I'd attach it, but it's on YouTube, if anyone wants to find it.
Right, given that England are apparently going to be knocked out early doors we all need a 2nd team to follow and so here is the euro 2016 sweepstake. I have taken all 24 teams jumbled them up in a random order and given them a number. Only 24 can play so the first 24 replies on this thread are in. I'm not playing and Will be completely honest with your selections. All you have to do is either reply to this post with a number 1-24 or if you are posting another comment on this Euro thread end it with a number, 1-24. First come, first served, try not to pick a number that has already been chosen. I will post any vacant numbers left tomorrow night and when we have all 24 numbers used I will list all players and your sweepstakes team. Good luck with your lucky number. Who will be the not606 Euro sweepstakes king or queen.
