I'm mostly known for comedy roles, but I've appeared in blockbuster films, theatre productions and adverts for chocolate and insurance
I have an adopted daughter with my first husband, and I now live in a grade II listed mansion

Despite growing up in a deeply religious household, I came out of the closet during my early teens
The theatre is my first love, yet I've appeared in some of highest-grossing films of all time, and have garnered two Oscar nominations
I've received a knighthood and a CBE, and I campaign tirelessly for LGBT rights
