    No Townsend.

So england are going into the euro's with one recognisable winger? on top of that, players who are not fit have been selected.

I for one cant wait to see rashford, sterling, lallana and alike being forced to play in a wide position and fail because they are not natural wingers.

Reus was sropped by Germany on his birthday because he wasnt 100% fit, yet we take henderson, strurridge and wilshere who have probably managed around 25 games between them all season!

I fell out of love with the national side after Mctuffty, I was ready to get excited for the euro's but now I think we will go out in the group stage

Dummett Misses out on Wales squad too, less disappointed in that. More Disappointed that Sissoko will be the only Nufc player representing newcastle at the euro's. Hopefully he isnt a Newcastle player by then!

I can't see us beating Russia in the first game, perhaps a draw (everyone will be okay with it at first)

Then comes Wales, Bale to score and we will lose, its so scripted!

Leaves us needing to be slovakia, who just beat Germany, another Draw. Bottom or 3rd from bottom with 2 points!

From when I started watching football euro 96, this has to be the worst national team ever taken to a tournament, with possibly the 2nd from worst manager!

Wilshire ahead of anyone - lel

When did Wilshire last play? boggles the mind how this guy gets in, he's even more guaranteed a place than Walcott usually is.

Drinkwater the real loser here, how can he not go after the season he's had while playing more or less every game.

While I appreciate rubbishing the national team, and especially the manager, is practically a religious observance, I disagree.

I wouldn't have taken Wilshere or Henderson or Lallana but otherwise the squad looks pretty reasonable. The only place that looks weak is the central defence and I am not usre what Hodgson could have done about that. The team as a whole is younger and more exciting than I can remember this millenium. He certainly isn't afraid to give young talent a chance.

We'll walk the group stage and then lose excitingly at the quarters or semis. One more decent centre half and yiou could start getting silly ideas but we will leak too many to see us through the tougher games.

We have too many similar players in Barkely Wilshere Rooney Henderson Milner Alli Lallana

Litterally all 7 of those players can do a CM/CAM role. They are all Central players (Milner more so in his later stages). I put Rooney as a Midfielder because if he wants to play thats the only space for him, he isnt getting selected over Kane, Vardy or Sturridge who are all CF's again Rashford is a CF. Everyone is a bloody Centre Something!

Litterally no width to the team at all. I dont see any pace apart from Sterling, Rashford Vardy and Sturridge, but how often are those four going to be on the pitch at the same time.

I can see us going 1-0 and chasing games and because we have started with Vardy and Sterling, we have a distinct lack of changing the system or bringing in pace towards the end. Milner is the only player in the squad that has the ability to cross a football!

Really poor from Hodgson. Always said he'd pick players on form not history, and he rocks up with Sterling, Stones, Barkley, Henderson, Lallana and Wilshere. Maybe unfair on Stones and Barkley, who could well be Int'l class, but otherwise it just doesn't offer a lot of hope - I mean, why do we need Kane, Vardy, Sturridge, Rooney and Rashford? We play one up front, occasionally bringing on a second. I'm sorry for Townsend, but moreso Drinkwater. The fact Wilshere and Sterling are going is pretty poor, given other players in their positions have done more to justify it. It's weak from Roy.

I didnt want us to take Stones, but who else is there? If anything we need another CB but there isnt anyone, maybe Phil Jag, but he was in the same awfully poor everton team as Stone who conceeded loads this season. I think it helps Dier can fit in there if need be.

The only players I actually enjoy watching play are mainly the spurs kids, Alli, Dier, Walker, Kane. Wouldnt mind seeing Forster play. Clyne's & Vardy are good, but the rest of the squad can go eat a massive bag of d1cks!

Wiltshere is my only problem with the team selection. Perennial crock, a little gypsy pikey and generally the spunk stain on life's duvet, shouldn't be near the squad. We could have had Drinkwater who was a Champion, literally, this year or Mark Noble would have been a good shout but no we go with the little ****tard wimp. Just watch him get injured after 30mins and miss the rest of the tournament.

But doesn't Townsend being dropped increase the chances of him stopping at the town? I'd be bloody pleased if I was yous.

Spot on - I just posted similar on the Chronicles FB page England loss can be our gain. They also called it a "travesty" that Andros didn't make the squad. They need to get a dictionary and look the meaning up.

Townsend has put the effort in this second half of the season but ultimately he only played half a season for a relegated club at the end of the day. Vardy, Sturridge, Sterling, Lallana, Rashford call all play out there and offer greater variety of positions they can play so fair play.

As mentioned above though I have no time for Wiltshire and would rather take a lame duck than that prick!

Good squad, that will hopefully do the country proud.
Pleased that Rashford is in the squad and if that means Townsend or any other unnecessary midfielder is discarded, so be it.
FFS if Townsend wasn't playing for us, who would give a **** in any case.

We won't be playing with any wingers that's for sure.

We have tried the diamond behind two strikers, and we've tried 4-3-3. There's no need for wingers, we have attacking fullbacks and good cover in DM for when they get forward.

I'm not worried about our strongest 11 it'll be a good match for any team, it's just the squad that bothers me, ****e like Lallana and Henderson being given the nod over Drinkwater and Noble.

A few players I think were borderline choices (Henderson, Wilshere, Barkley) who i may have opted against due to fitness or form but Milner 100% deserves to go. The second half of this season he has been excellent.
