I don't think so A compound adjective is one which is hyphenated, and even your example uses different grammar as you refer to A Premier league TEAM. Doesn't matter though, it was only meant humourlessly
When my dad passed away some time ago his one remaining wish was to watch HULL CITY play in the 'First Division' as he used to call it back then. I took him to the KC a few times, but health and age finally took its toll. My point here is simple. Some of our followers past and present waited years and lifetimes in some cases for our time to finally come. That glorious day at Wembley when Ash lifted the trophy was the first time, certainly in my time following City I saw the City and all it's followers united together and more importantly IMo proud to wear the shirt again as everyone forfilled that dream. If anyone thinks for one minute we should not be as high in the football league as possible including the a Premier league and all what comes with it,you really need to ask yourself just what the bloody hell the point of it all really is in terms of following a football club. THE only place any fan wants to be,especially those clubs like we were just a decade ago is the Premier League. Do you ever wonder why most teams support suddenly goes through the roof when they step out at the Twin towers as I still call it? It's because they want to either live the dream like we are doing AGAIN,or cement another piece of history to the club. Sorry lads,I and many more City fans did not put up with years of underachievement back in the days of doom and gloom, padlocks and lies, only to wish it away again for any for any reason. Remember this,Chairmen always come and go,the Club however, and its supporters old and new, are here for life. Rant over. UTT
Still sinking in for me. It was a little anti climactic with the low crowds etc... was never going to be as magical as the first time round. I think the people's standards have gone up dramatically. But I think we are unbelievably lucky to be up. Not in a footballing way, we deserved it but when you think we've been promoted 3 times to the premier league in 8 years. Some teams can only dream of that. First time round you go down you think, oh well we gave it a good run. Then you go up again, expectations change a little and you think, **** we've really blown it this time but no we're straight back up and it's quite amazing frankly. Things could have gone really differently and going straight back up ESPECIALLY through playoffs is not easy and probably not been done often, I don't think. Usually teams go straight back up if they are clearly a league above everyone else, like newcastle did recently and you dominate during the whole season. So i think 3rd time round, you have even more expectations. Now people are going to expect us to try and turn ourselves into a west brom, stoke or palace and cement ourselves in that league. Personally, I hope we emulate a team like bournemouth this season. In any case, we should really be happy, who knows what might happen now with more money, takeover talks etc... things might have been really **** if we'd stayed down. Don't think many players would have stuck around and we could have ended up like donny or something.
It's not really so amazing. The financial rewards of being two seasons in the top tier recently were considerable. There is a widening gap in recent years. Players like Dawson and Diame in the past season spoke of aiming to win the title, and so they should have been.
It is amazing in my opinion. Just because we were expected to go up automatically doesn't mean **** once you're in the playoffs. You could see it two ways, look at our team, wages and past experience and think well anything but promotion would be a disaster. or you could see it being quite an achievement considering things didn't pan out as well as we'd expected. You could easily end up bottling that after failing to reach expectations.
as you wish. if you want the same grammar construct, you could say chelsea are premier league, then it'd be the same.
