If you want to see the Marianas Trench of bad taste on the subject, just take the odd look at the General Chat board. You won't stay long.

Worcester man arrested on suspicion of public order offence
A man from Worcester has been arrested by police today (Monday 30 May) after reports were received of a man wearing a t-shirt printed with offensive comments relating to the Hillsborough disaster.

The man, aged 50, was arrested by officers this morning, under Section 4a of the Public Order Act 1986, on suspicion that with intent he displayed writing which was threatening, abusive, insulting and caused harassment, alarm or distress.

Members of the public called police after the man was seen wearing the t-shirt at the Brewers Arms pub in the St Johns area of Worcester yesterday (Sunday 29 May) he was asked to leave by the landlord.

Superintendent Kevin Purcell said: " I understand the alarm and distress the offensive language shown on this t-shirt will have caused to both the people in and around the pub and further afield.

"I would like to thank the landlord of the pub for his support and all the members of the public who were in the pub at the time and came forward to report it.

"Police acted very quickly to arrest the individual and he remains in police custody at this time."

Issued: 11.50am Monday 30 May 2016 Helen Blake, Corporate Communications

I've seen his name and the metro is more explicit with his the shirt collection.

I read someone said he'd lost his job over it also

I hardly think hr works that fast on the weekend in it but at least it's good to know the laws on the statutes can and do deal with this stuff.

I've read it yesterday but didn't post anything about it.

Let the authorities deal with him.. Nasty nasty lowlife.

Wonder what happened to that dick a few
years ago from Blackpool who had '96 WNE' (sic) tattooed on him. His name was released on the net and his family had to move. Not sure I approve of that, as he was about 17, as I remember. A 50 year old man is just a trailer trash jerk though.

Wasn't there a senior civil servant sending messages to sites like this on a Home Office computer too? Bet that half The General Chat swampies are on the government payroll too.

The guy is named on bbc website.

They must not be worried about prejudicing a case against him.

Nothing to prejudice really, of his own free will he chose to wear the T-shirt which had an offensive logo on it, he was pictured wearing it, is on video wearing it.
The police say he broke the law and have charged him, why should he be given anonymity?

Plenty condemning him for wearing it but questioning his right to freedom of speech, would someone have the right to punch his lights out if offended by his T-shirt?

Of course not, he's just a **** that took his hate to the wrong level in public.

Seen a couple defending him and arrogantly claiming it was the fault of ticketless drunk Liverpool fans too. No doubt they'll be getting some attention as a result too.

Good question, there was an article on Sky Sports website about the inquests not long after they had started and it was left open to comments, I emailed the editor and reminded him/her of Lord Justice Goldring's warning that the case was not allowed to be discussed on social media, I received a reply apologising and the comment section beneath the article was closed.
I think most avoided censure over the last 2 years because nobody sent an official complaint about whichever comment etc that was made on a particular site, or the internet police weren't doing their jobs properly.

When the bullshit happens on the internet I usually just put it down to mindless trolling rather than ignorance or the lack of intelligence. People can hide behind a computer screen. However, with I referred to early, it was on Facebook with the picture and name displayed for all to see <doh>

Wondered if you'd all be discussing the guy from Worcester. It's where I'm from.

It's been all across my Fb page since.

I don't disagree that the guy is a disgrace. But is this a matter that should be dealt with by law? I'd have preferred it if the guy just got his head kicked in.

What bothers me is that someone can be arrested by a dodgy law for offending someone.

Could I be arrested for wearing a t shirt that says two in the goo one in the poo? Because it upsets a woman. For wearing something insulting to ginger people? What no one seems to have noticed is that everyone is happy this guy has been dealt with by the law but at the same time we blindly wonder into some sort of police state where perhaps we could be arrested for calling Cameron a pig shagger. Ie just like in turkey you can be locked up for insulting the president. I think it sets us up for being arrested for all sorts of things which pertain to freedom of speech however horrible the opinion might be. As it's not free speech if it has to be popular.

Hoping you all don't think I'm trying to justify it. As I'm not. The guy is a dick of the highest degree.

Wondered how long it'd be before he became a martyr. Well I'd rather he didn't get his head kicked in. The argument is 'won' now, as much as it's ever going to be. What is left is only social-inadequates on par with Holocaust and moon-landings deniers. They're to be ridiculed, not beaten up, but mostly, as with the GC pondlife, to be ignored.
