How is it common sense it is ****ing guessing. by your logic we are not signing anyone this season as all the players we are linked to are wanted by someone else, so we will be stuck with the same squad as we cant possibly go after a player someone else is interested in.
This is what you are saying , not me . I'm ONLY talking about Allen ... Period . I've already explained that the guy who payed 15 million for Allen last time , wants him at another club . Allen's agent has warned us he will cost lots because of this Celtic interest . Not Rocket surgery why I don't want to go further with Allen ... Just common sense ... IMO .....jeez
I would pay £15-£20 million for Joe if it meant having him here. Why? Because he's the natural long term replacement for Leon and we'll get 6-8 years out of him at the top level, injuries etc aside. Plus he's a local boy who will give nothing less than 100% commitment and heart. Those qualities are priceless.
Rodgers also wrecked his career at Anfield and made him a scapegoat on countless occasions. He's improved tenfold under Klopp.
Your a sandwich short of a picnic if you would pay 15 to 20 for Allen valley , supply your own ants ...lol
Jesus Christ, it's like debating with Dai on crack sometimes. Come on then Roof, who out there would you rather than Joe as Leon's long term replacement?
I would put the money in Guidolin hands and turn him loose ....15 to 20 million will go a long way in his hands . Do a thread asking who wants to pay 15 to 20 million for Allen valley .
Dai on crack I actually agree with Roof though - no doubt Allen has improved this past season but I really don't think he is worth anywhere near £20M but that's just an opinion. Grimes has been doing brilliantly for England U21s maybe it's time for him to stake a claim? But I don't think Guidolin wants to be 'turned loose' at all, let alone with that kind of money. He's not worked like that in the past so why would he do so now? Not going to happen. Besides, as much as I like Paloschi, £8M seems steep for what I've seen. £1.5M in wages every season too. Hopefully we've yet to see the best of him.
The price is irrelevant because of what he'd bring to the team over the next 6-8 years. He's not worth that price tag yes, but to replace Leon, that's the sort of money we will have to pay. Cannot replace Leon's qualities on the cheap.
" The Price is irrelevant " ..... Not sure what to say about this comment so I won't say anything . I think we can find a player more like Britton , which is what we need , than Allen .....and a fuk of a lot cheaper . We barely kept our head above water with receiving monies from sales like Bony , Davies , Sinclair , Rodgers and bringing in players like Michu and Chico . We are coming off a few seasons of paying money to Laudrup , Monk and transfering unused players like Eder and Tabanou . We need to get back to practical , and a bidding war up to 20 million for Allen is not within a mile of practical .
If you think Celtic can outbid us or pay higher wages than us you are living in the past. The only thing they've got over us is playing in the early stages of the Champions's League. I don't think £15 million for Joe Allen is unrealistic in the current market but whether it is realistic for us knowing we have to strengthen elsewhere is another matter.
I don't think 15 million is unrealistic either , for clubs like Liverpool that don't know any better what to do with their money . I wonder how many starts Allen has had in the Premier ? Not enough to warrant 15 million IMO . Allen had trouble getting into our side in the Championship with us at times .
He hadn't had that many when he left us for Liverpool either and they paid 15m. he now has European experience having made 23 appearances, played 90 times for them in the Pl, 25 international caps and 5 for GB, I believe he would bring so much to our team, anything from 10 - 15 is probably a justified figure as he certainly hasn't gone backwards. As for him struggling to get in to our championship side, that is in the past and he was a kid and was doing well to get his game time and if you call making 40 appearances in our promotion season then he really struggled, but that just isn't an argument as why we shouldn't sign him now.
No more than 8 million for me . Also I think Allen and Britton are a bit of an apples and oranges scenario where Britton is a 100 % defensive midfielder and Allen likes to drift forward and IMO we don't need a drifter , we need a stay at home midfielder . Time will tell how much he goes for if he goes .... and where . No disrespect to Wales but it's not a big pool to pick from . Again , how many starts in the Premier , compared to 15 to 20 million just doesn't cut it . More expierence on the bench than off .
You can not fault what he has done, his record speaks for itself, but I accept what you value him at, I think you are on the low side. As for whether he is a wanderer as you put it, there are more on here I would and it is a guess have him here than not. the money does have to be right. I would bite liverpools hand off for the 10m mentioned in the papers.
Garry Monk is the odds on favorite to become Leeds United next manager . Good luck to him and Leeds if it happens . This could be a brilliant or very stupid hiring . They would know one way or another not to far into the season IMO
About 5 people have turned that job down, because the club is run appallingly, this for me would not be the best place for him to go. They are a massive club, but are a mess from top to bottom, there is better out there for him.
