He'd get a few goals and the likes of Martial and Rashford would benefit from working with him. He's got a winner's mentality. 13 league titles in 15 years.

Porto is the only #legit one and that is ancient history

His first action as Man Utd manager will be to go to court in a week and explain himself as his full range of sexist abuse is publicly revealed for the first time <ok>

Poor old Astro always the bridesmaid never the bride. LOL

If you had any shame you'd have packed in your rabid rants years ago. Can we start the Season Progress 2016-17 thread a little early this year

Sometime things do not work out the way we want it. What's the probability that Jose Mourinho is going to be instant success at United?:emoticon-0153-broke.

I dont think anyone can deny he's a bit of a **** (but he's our ****). However he's clearly one of the best managers in the game and it'll be interesting to see the boost he brings to our club.

The fact he turned down PSG's guaranteed league titles and CL football suggests he's excited by the challenge at United and for that reason alone he deserves some credit and backing from the United fans.

No argument one of the best in the business: the most interesting premiership since its inception .Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham cannot
be underrated .Leicester pulled out a rabbit out of the hat last season.

He turned down PSG because Man Utd paid him £4m to wait and see what happened with Van Gaal

You'd like that to be true I'm sure lol. But even if that were true he could've named his price at PSG. So to recap... Man United +nice salary vs PSG with guaranteed League titles + CL football + equally good salary or more.

You need to think your arguments through properly old chap

The problem with PSG is that they don't give managers full control and I don't believe they have the final say on which players come in. That is OK for people like Ancelotti who are good at avoiding confronation and have made a successful career out of working for difficult owners but not good for people like Mourinho who falls out with a lot of people.

Well for starters the criticism is that Mourhino is a short term mercenary who's only in it for himself, the money, the trophies and the glory. But now you're saying he turned down said short term money, trophies and glory to come to United side out of tge CL and off the pace for a league title... bcos he won't have full control? Secondly, he never had full control in his first stint at Chelsea and certainly not ay Real Madrid. Finally, I think if PSG had wanted him (and lets be honest with his credentials they would have lapped him up) their primary aim is the Champions League trophy, who's to say they would have given him free reign with the confidence he would have delivered.

I think it comes down to something far more basic. Mourinho simply preferred to manage United.

Mourinho IS a short term manager, history has proven that. Not that it really matters in football anymore, very few managers stay over 3 seasons at a club, and out of the ones that do I'd rather have a Mourinho than a Wenger managing my club.

Yeah, he did (want the United job). He's wanted the Man Utd job for a long time. I was just saying the way transfers are done at PSG would've factored into his decision, and that I don't think its the type of job he'd be suited to anyway.

I think you're working yourself up over a nothing post. There was no real dig at Mourinho or Man Utd in there, just an observation on PSG's transfer dealings.

My feeling is that Mourinho will make United a more physical and mobile side and better to watch than the van Gaal side (which to be fair is not difficult to do).

They will not win the title but will get into top 4 which I am sure will be in Mourinho's minimum objectives for the season. City are favourites but interestingly their manager has never worked in the premiership before.

I thin kit is fair to give credit to mourinho for not going to PSG.

PSG has no credit at all for winning a title.. none.. even moyes or neville could win one there <whistle>

I think yes he's known what he wanted and got what he wanted here.

I don't know that he's going to get that.. you decide everything stuff... He mihgt well do but I have to wonder at some point are all teams going to move away form this way of doing business. hire a manager sell everyone the last guy brought through.. and repeat.

Now ok. depay looks toast for good reason but will blind be? Darmian?

I think the onus will still be to get a lot more out of the players there. (all he needs do is drop felliani for that)

I think they'll buy to do just this.

    CMs are vital.

Every time van gall let utd play or felliani was out they were so much better. mourinho by nature is not cautious but rather focused on organisation. Gaurdiola's level of detail and organisation is grossly under rated in this country. I think mourinho's looked negative a lot where he's tried to shut up shop several times but perhaps it showed a lack of faith in that chelsea side really... i dunno

They should go for greizmann as thier no one target IMO.

He's all talk though. I'd happily have a bet on United and Liverpool's league finishes next season but Astro would #bottleit the same as he did last season. Big talk, small balls; that's Astro!
