Got to love Newspaper Sport headlines. Is it only in football that two football clubs would be rocked [presumably to their foundations - we wouldn't want them both doing anything half-heartedly] that there is reported news that Shane Long is being offered a new deal by Saints.?

PS. I know this was reported earlier elsewhere but it's the headline that grabs me. Made me chuckle. ;)

I think we have to ask, why the British press don't want to see, a successful Southampton FC?
For instance, I did read that Payet may stay at WHU, but where is all the speculation, of him joining, AB&C clubs?
It really is tiresome, of reading this negative crap, day after day. I know some will say, don't read it, if you don't like it, but hey, I want to read some positive gossip about my beloved Saints.

I know. It's not exactly exodus time at Leicester City either. There seems to be a mutual hands-off agreement amongst certain other clubs. They say all football fans feel a bit persecuted. Even Chappers on the Beeb keeps saying he must mention Saints when they put in a great performance otherwise Saints fans will be texting in complaining. So I damn sure we've taken more than our fair share over the years. Thing is, it's a pretty hard thing trying to shake off the permanent minnow of the Premier League reputation Saints had from its very inception. And the media do like a whipping boy club. It's up to SFC to stand up to the BS and for us to realise it for what it is.

Trouble is if Saints continue to act like a small club they will be treated as such...............I have said it so many times.....decisions on how this can be achieved will have to be made.
Again a chicken and egg situation.........They have to either move to a bigger ground or at the very least expand St Mary's. They will not draw in the bigger crowds until they can accommodate them. They have expanded the academy now they need to expand or Move in the next couple of years. It is just as much a consolidation of our existing standing with in the EPL as is buying the right players to improve.

Article from Ladbrokes......not trying to sell our players, but pointing out that the Euro 2016 championship could be the time to cash in on Pelle as he will get a chance to showcase his talents. He'd better stock up on hair products then. :)

I think it is time to form an action group to Save Our Pelle....we should call ourselves the Soppies<laugh>

I agree why sell Pelle? Unless were investigating in a big upgrade and need him off the books. Can't think of an obvious upgrade?

With Long, Pelle, J-Rod and Austin we have no shortage of options but can't rely on rodders or Austin atm. If we are to let Pelle go then we need to sign a really class forward, in the lukaku mould?

Ron has this theory that all players from abroad take a season to settle in...yet another reason to keep Graziano. It all comes down to the real situation with JRod and Austin. I think Austin will be able to play with some careful management, but it is Jay who has me worried. They tried to give him a little game time and he disappeared again without comment. :(

Weird, I had a dream J Rod missed an open goal after being put through. I felt really bad for him.

We scored 59 goals this season. 10-15 behind what the really top teams tend to score. Rodriguez and Austin played pretty much no part in that, whilst Davis and Classie can both be expected to chip in more next season I'd suggest. It's why Mane's value to the team is incalculable. Sell him and you have to find goals and goal threats from areas I don't think we have at the moment (and so major disruption to the style we have) . Keep him, and keep the rest, and there's no reason we can't be right up there again next season. I fully expect the defence to be one of the leagues best again, especially with improved play from rb. In many respects we are in the strongest position we've ever been on going into premierleague offseason.

Why another contact Fran? Next year he'll be very useful, but the year after he's going to be slipping off rapidly. Unless he was happy with a year extension, then I'd say keep him next season and then let him go.
