Maybe we should all pool our cash and see if we can get an amazing price about young Lee winning a pro world title some day.
Good on yer Tony Bellew!! A left hook from hell to finish the job. Hes never avoided anyone at any weight and has now got his just rewards!
Credit to him he got the job done in what was a high pressure situation for him at his home stadium but Matchroom and Eddie Hearn have done a cracking job manoeuvring the opportunity for him
Bang out of order mate!!!!!! I kind of agree but not totally. Im a scouser and an Everton supporter so im looking past his lack of skill.
Some very well placed champions though. Not sure how many would be world champions if it was 30 years ago.
I actually quite like Bellew, he can come across as a bit of a bell and at times in interviews but generally seems like a decent bloke. He's not the worst champion we've had by a long shot but he's some way off world class
No sooner than i throw superlatives at Tony, hes now calling out David Haye. The same David Haye that was britains greatest ever cruiserweight! Utter obliteration if he ever steps in with that beast.
Bellew and Matchroom have done very well with some smart placement. Credit to him, got it done in front of the home crowd. His talk afterwards as usual however was nauseating and any top level Cruiser will take him apart like Adonis Stevenson did at light heavy. Who is at Cruiser these days? What about Kovalev- will he go up? Bellew would get smashed by Haye, Kovalev and any other genuine world level fighter.
The beast that is Kovalev is waiting for Ward to move up. Then we will have an immense contest of power v skill.
Wards already up at light heavy now and there's strong rumours that Ward/Kovalev will happen in November. There's apparently just some argument about where it'll be held and I understand, New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco are the 3 cities being considered. Let's hope they can sort this out and get the fight made. Just my opinion but Ward will win it comfortably. Not much kicking about at Cruiserweight nowadays so not a particularly strong division for Bellew to defend in. Crazy talk calling Haye out
That will be a really interesting fight. No doubt Ward will have a serious edge in skill sets, but I'm not sure he can run for 12 rounds. Sort of 50 - 50 for me. An amazing bout though.
Ring Magazine's 2007 Fight of the Year. 6 rounds of fury between the WBC Champion Rafael Marquez and the former title holder Israel Vasquez, who'd been forced to quit on his stool due to a smashed nose, the last time they met, just 5 months before.
The International Boxing Association has just confirmed that professional boxers will be able to participate in Rio. A total of 26 places will be set aside for the pros. To get that walk up start though, they'll have to win a spot at qualifying tournament in Venezuela next month. I don't think this is going to go down well, especially if they rip away most of the gold medals. P.S. Tyson Fury has given up meat.
Absolute bollocks letting pros in with the amateurs. The Olympics are the dream these amateurs live for and aspire to achieve. Filthy decision, Carl Framptons absolutely spot on. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/36425046
How they managed to come to that majority decision is beyond me, every I see or have spoken to disagree with the decision, where did they find these morons from? it's downright dangerous
