So Top Gear. Same show, same hi-jinx, virtually the same format... Zero chemistry between the presenters, Chris Evans awful, Guest section poor. It was like watching Top Gear but without the fun. Get rid of Evans and try again. (Le Blanc wasn't bad)
Not seen it yet. Saw it was back on wasn't really arsed. Will end up watching it from pure curiosity but yeah, it was the banter and piss taking between the original 3 that made the show what it was. Only get that if the presenters are quite close mates and have known each other a bit, can't force it otherwise it ends up, well, forced
I agree that the majority of what made Top Gear good was the banter, But even the test drive by Evans was appalling. His presentation style just doesn't fit for a car show and he spent the rest of the hour shouting.
I was wondering if anyone saw it. I went on ja606 ( the enemy) knowing my old mucked anfield rap was looking forward to it. They had a thread for it!!!! 180 comments. They slated it. Also said evans shouted through it. I have it recorded but caught last 10 mins... Joey did a voice over... it was so awful...
Getting more tempted not to bother but sounds like a car crash so worth watching for the cringe More positively GoT tonight !! Canee feckin wait
Apparently it's so bad it's must see yes... even that horrid turd stretfordrearender85 was in agreement... and that's saying sonething.
I've been waiting for it to restart despite expecting it to be ****. Didn't realise it was starting this weekend, advertising must have been great!
Put top gear on and already cringing before the opening voiceover was done. Evans is very desperate and ageing. Matt le Blanc comes across like a total prick, guy seems like a total arsehole Typical lazy BBC to simply keep the exact same format, title music, visual style, everything and not tweak it at all Evans is pure ****e as the main presenter, forced 'enthusiasm' and doesn't really seem that interested in cars or the concept and tasks they give him. He's got no credentials as a motoring journo either and all his voiceovers and presenting sounds like it was written by a scriptwriter in the manner of Clarkson and fed to Evans
Also all the humour has gone, actually think that's the main thing for me, it used to be funny as **** and why I tuned in every week, this is just not funny at all now
Saw Top Gear. Seems to me they replaced one ageing, talentless prick with another. Also, May was a bit of a muppet as well. The only one who's missed is Hammond imo. I thought Le Blanc was pretty good but his voiceovers were monotone - maybe that will sharpen up given time.
It seems to me they didn't dress rehearse it. Evans seems to be addressing the crowd and didn't seem miked. He was shouting to the crowd and totally neglected he was on TV. Though... on the stars section he was still loud.. I would expect them to address this instantly.. I would expect the bits recorded are recorded and the live bits are done each week. I did feel that there was zero chemistry between leblanc and evans on the reliant Robin first bit. Nothing basically happened in it. The viper part wasn't disastrous but... sabine was woeful on screen so that's not great. The interview was like..... Ermmmmm... Evans did too much for too long. Which is OK of course. Clarkson started the section with stars but always did a couple minutes max but evans must've spent 7/8 mins on the thing. The rally cross bit... I think they'll put off a lot of people doing the bit frankly. They Tore up a bit of ground but I wonder if they've thought it though.... and prepped the ground for repeated use. Sadly... they kept all the Clarkson names on the corners which didn't help imo. Jessie issenburg turned up and looked really uncomfortable. Really didn't know what the f was going on and I'd say the fact Ramsey prob practiced for months for it....well... embarrssing for the lad. But worst thing of all was joey doing voice overs... Jesus he was bloody awful.
Hammond had a great training up on brainiac on sky and those types of shows... and radio of course. His voice overs were much better. Clarkson was just Mr smug and so familiar to us I don't think anyone can remember pre Clarkson anyway. Joey... not experienced by the look of it and he was dull as ****.
Hammond, Clarkson and May all had backgrounds and/or worked as journos in cars or gear head type stuff. None of the new presenters do, and it shows. Plus yeah what has le Blanc ever presented before ? That Sabine woman was pure ****e, not made for camera in any sense her
Actually thought the celeb in rally cross thingy was one of the bits that worked better as the focus wasn't as much on the shocking presenting line up and more on the guests. Why they changed it to rally cross I have no idea, probably so they can say oh look we've tweaked it but c'mon who gives a **** now, it's best seeing a car going round a race track at full tilt. Eisenberg as well was a poor guest, ended up liking him more by the end but the guy clearly had zero interest in cars in any sense so why get him on ?!
Dunno... I just read there was apparently extra gear on bbc 3 where these extra presenters are on and it was more... in depth for serious gear heads.... nobody knew that was happening? Like thronecast for got geeks. Like.. tell people ffs. I'd have looked at it to see. It's be hilarious if the geek part after was more watched than the main show.
