Word is Harry's going to spend the 23 million saved to buy 4 more mediocre midfielders, who on a Sky Sports pay-per-view will have a fight to the death, with the survivor having the privilege of slotting into 10th on their MF depthchart. All ppv proceeds will go towards building a 60,000 seat stadium that'll be 2/3s full in 4 years time after ol' Harry has cut and run for another coaching gig.

Now that Hernandez has proven he can score in England (though has no chance of ever being as dominant a player as Carroll), how much would want for him?
Everyone outside of Newcastle underestimates what it means to the club to have a local lad with as much potential as Andy, it's hard to put a price on that, especially coming out of the past few years.

    23m!!!

No way, if Bent is worth 24m, Carroll is 35m +++.. poor offer by Spurs.

    30m + O'Hara + Pav + Kranjcar and we may have a deal!

On what basis? No offence but Bent has consistently scored goals in the Premiership, your basing your opinion on emotion.

    Be realistic!

Hernandez has not only done it in the Prem in his first season, but he's done at at International level too. And at the World Cup. World of difference. And he's nowhere near as one dimensional as Carroll.

Carroll is nowhere near Hernandez's ability.

Hernandez is in a better team and has scored less goals.
And if you think Andy Carroll is one dimensional you obviously haven't watched much of Newcastle this season. <doh>
Although you haven't probably watched much of Manure either!

One dimensional? Watch the toon play every week and then come back to us with a scouting report on #9. I won't bother listing off everything he contributes on the pitch, but if for a second you think he's just another Crouch or Heskey, you're sorely mistaken.

For the record, I wasn't taking a shot at Hernandez, I think he was a great buy (as painful as it is for me to compliment anything Man U), but the point I was trying to make is that strikers years before their prime already showing results are worth a lot. It would kill Newcastle supporters to sell Andy on and watch him bag 20-30 goals per season anywhere else -- so we'd need a huge pay day to soften that blow.

    Pardew:
"He's not going to Spurs, he's not going anywhere,"

"It's been going on and on, it's ridiculous, we've said he's not for sale,"

“Andy is not for sale, again,”

"He's not for sale, how many times does it have to be said? They can put together whatever they like. He is not for sale.

"I am going to say it one last time, he is not for sale,"

    Carroll:

"It doesn't matter what other people or other teams are saying. This is the club I wanted to sign for.

"I signed a new contract and I want to be here for the rest of my life.

“I’ve always worked towards being where I am now and want to stay here – it’s as simple as that.”

"I don't want to leave. It's always been my ambition to play for Newcastle United and score goals at St James' Park, and that's what I've been able to do.

"For me, I only want to play for Newcastle."

"I'm happy here and I want to stay."

We will turn Spurs down and they will offer Darren Bent another 10 quid a week and he will re-sign for Spurs

They are testing Carroll's resolve to see if he would follow Torres by putting in a transfer.
