I was born near end of 1944 and the League had finished after only 3 games of the 39/40 season, Raich Carters last appearances for us.
There was a Cup competition in January 45 and we were knocked out by Birmingham in 3rd round.
Things got back to normal (football-wise) with division 1 kicking off 31..8.1945
