A Portuguese police chief who previously ran the Madeleine McCann inquiry has been given a suspended jail term over an unrelated case. Goncalo Amaral was convicted of perjury after an alleged attack on the mother of another missing girl. He was among five officers of the Policia Judiciara in Portimao accused of "scenes of aggression" against Leonor Cipriano, whose nine-year-old daughter, Joana, vanished in September 2004. Three officers were cleared of torture but Mr Amaral was found guilty of falsifying documents and given an 18-month suspended sentence. Clarence Mitchell, a spokesman for Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann, said the couple thought the conviction "speaks for itself". And indeed it does.
Oops, a very massive fail quoting that Dev...both previous child murders before the McCanns, were family or friends of family members; Comparison to McCann case The village of Figueira is only seven miles from Praia da Luz, where Madeleine McCann disappeared on 3 May 2007.[11] In both cases the mothers launched campaigns to find their daughters and in both cases the local Polícia Judiciária investigated the possibility that the mothers had killed their daughters.[4] A child protection specialist, Mark Williams-Thomas, who believes that Joana's and Madeleine's disappearances are related, said that the disappearance of two children unknown to each other, within a period of four years in a seven-mile radius, would be a huge coincidence, especially considering that Portugal is a small country with few abductions.[11]Before Joana's disappearance, the previous first-degree murder of a child in the Algarve region was in November 1990 and involved a British girl, nine-year-old Rachel Charles, who was abducted and murdered in Albufeira. Her body was found three days later; a British mechanic, Michael Cook, a friend of the family, was arrested and convicted.[12]Leandro Silva, the common-law husband of Leonor Cipriano, said in 2007 that "the only difference between the McCanns and us is that we don't have money.
I wonder if anyone has asked them to do a lie detector. If I was innocent and in their shoes, I'd be on the trumpet to Jeremy Kyle every hour.
I would like see the police come down heavily on the mccans no former investigation what a ****ing joke they leave their kids alone for 30 minutes while go out drinking
I always remember one interview where she said something like, I can tell you one thing I'm not lying about, which left to question what had she lied previously about. In another instance he referred to his daughter something like, the missing child, rather than his daughter or refer to her by name, an unconscious trait when you are trying to distance yourself from something.
The point being made was that the only person who says the McCanns kiiled Maddie is a convicted perjurer who falsified documentation to put the blame on the mother in another case of child abduction. He was kicked off the force because his officers beat a confession out of a mother whose child was missing. I think it's fair to say that not only did the McCanns have money, they were also lucky enough not get tortured by the police for a confession. Amaral's theories are ludicrous beyond belief - the musings of a madman, besides which he has also been wholly discredited by anyone who has looked at the case, including dozens of Scotland Yard detectives and other independent law enforcement agencies, anyone who believes a word Amaral says should be booking a visit to a shrink.
Yeah loads of child murderers used it prior to them hiring it . The dug was sniffing all the other corpses?
What about the Irish family who swear down that they saw Gerry carrying a young child past them, that fateful night? Seeing them arrive in England and Gezza carrying he son down the plane steps, holding him in the exact same way is what sealed the deal for them.
