Minimum expectations. Not having to exhort the team to move the ball forward would be nice <ok>

Winning the premier league IS a realistic objective.

City and Chelsea are in the same boat as us, new manager and in need of new players. van Gaal has done most of the deadwood clearance though so that's where we're in advance of them.

Leicester have a whole new kettle of fish to contend with in the Champions League and the possibility of one or two important players leaving. It would be beyond a miracle for them to defend their title.

    Arsenal are Arsenal.

Spurs had and blew their chance last year, for them to be as injury free and settled as last season is unlikely but they'll still be strong candidates.

Liverpool only have the lack of Europe in their favour. It's also a disadvantage though, as Gotze instantly distancing himself from them proved all too vividly. Lots of ****e players to get rid of and replace.

We're one of the favorites, no doubt.

If their players escape the Euros without injury I suspect Spurs will be contenders. Poch has a settled squad, there are no murmurings of players wanting to leave or being fed up on the bench and with only a minor tweak or two I suspect they will make a strong challenge. They have their new 10,000 seater stadium on the way, for the next two seasons after this they will have to play at Wembley or wherever so I can see them falling away then.

Arsenal fans have been asking for a proper forward and proper defensive midfielder for years. They'll keep saying that until Wenger leaves, he'll buy a bunch of technical midfielders again...

    I second this post.

    Mourinho specifically said the following:

"I think I prefer to forget the past three years, I prefer to focus on the giant club I have in my hands now and I think what the fans are expecting me to say is that I want to win.

"I think the players need to listen – I want to win", he added.

Aiming for Top 4 is not in Jose's mentality. We have to absolutely be gunning for the very top of the pile. Jose's experience of PL should give us an edge against Pep's City, a team that is going to be the major roadblock for United.

Chelsea fans won't admit it but they must feel pig sick seeing their hero become the Manchester United manager.

Truth is, this should have happened just as soon as SAF retired. The transition would have been virtually seamless, the squad would have kept their heads up - instead the whole club, players, staff and fans have had to endure three years of dull, uninspiring football. JM is right, put all that crap in the past, look forward to a successful future and belt up tight and enjoy the mad-cap ride for the next 3 years.

Is THE banner in the stands yet.............. it has to be doesn't it...............

What if amongst all this fanfare and triumphalism about the appointment of JM as coach it turns out to be a massive flop? I don't like him and I'll laugh my bra off if he's sacked in his first season. NOTHING against you boys or Man Utd but I just don't like him.
