He's always like this tbf to him. The summer when Lallana etc left he was confident they would all stay until it was official.

 

Yep, Liverpool want Sadio and Sadio would undoubtedly love to play for Liverpool. It's a shame but he's already been talked out of a summer move once...

£25m isn't a bad offer. I'd push for a bit more, though.

They paid £25m for Lallana two seasons ago. Sadio is better and has a higher ceiling, IMO.

He's also two years younger than Lallana was, the market has inflated since and he'll be veeeerrrryyy marketable to them in Africa.

I personally think we should push for £35m. He isn't worth that, clearly. But he has time on his contract, we really do not want to sell and we are in no need for money. The ball is completely in our court, which means they can either pay over the odds or not get their man.

 

£40 mill or **** off Liverpool.

 

We supposedly told Arsenal 20m in January. We got 12.5m for Clyne last year.

So I'm guessing somewhere in the 15m region. In an odd way, Wanyama being near the end of his contract can work for us as well. If he ends up a free agent, he can go wherever he wants and likely command a much higher salary than he would on a transfer deal, with his sleazy agent also pocketing a much bigger chunk. So he may not agitate as strongly for a move this year as he did last year when he felt he would be "trapped" for two years.

 

£35 million+ would do it, or the club would be silly not to at that price, especially if Mane kicks up a fuss. I'd hope he'd stay for next season, but if a silly offer comes in then it would be hard to turn down. I hate the Summer.

Not quite sure why Mane would leave us to go to Liverpool now. He can do much better, and could wait a year and play European football with us. Still young.

£25m is nowhere near enough for me. £40m is about the going rate for a player of his quality - would be a big miss for us.

 

Yep. If a big bid comes in he is gone. It's as simple as that.

 

As a matter of fact, I do, though I haven't heard from him for a while as I don't belong to the same sailing club anymore, so I just have a neutral spin to news rather than a negative one. Plus, I go in search of news on my own rather than just take the word of others.

One example of my contact was that when JayRod was supposed to be off I knew several months before the transfer window opened that he was not. The reason being was that my contact straight out and asked him.

 

Err... excuse me but I wasn't confident at all. I may be fairly positive amongst a crowd of wrist slitters, but the only prediction I've actually got totally wrong was that I expected Cortese to stay, or buy out Saints. And several got that one wrong as well.

 

Liverpool are like a gout ridden, toupe- sporting hollywood producer, with yesteryear tales and false promises; "I'm gonna make yhou a starrr, kid" cough-cough, wheeze, splutter.

 

We need to keep most of the team together and Mane still has two years on his contract, so I hope we would say no. Otherwise we have to find someone as effective, then wait for him to fit in with the team. And all talk of Mane leaving is based on the fact that he was refused a move last season...he has given us no reason to think he is seeking a move now. We are basing this on Lallana and others leaving in our second season (a lifetime ago) and Spider getting a move after staying an extra year after throwing a wobbly. However, I guess there is a price for everything and the club has given us no reason not to trust their decisions if they do sell.

 

Let's not be surprised. We have just have our best season in the Premier League. We are the second best team In the league based on 2016 form; everyone will want our players.

I also think that if one of our players wants to leave this summer, then we should seriously think about it because they'd clearly be crazy. Exciting time to have anything to do with Southampton FC this summer.

 

At 22.31 the star report that Liverpool are interested in Mane. Now we all know what a denizen of truth that rag is. Within moments the Express picks it up and cuts and pastes the story. In less than ten minutes the Grauniad has seen it and thinks it had better reproduce it. Eleven minutes later the Telegraph is running the story while it has taken the Mail nearly two hours to cotton on before they decide to join the band wagon. Then every smart Alec little blogger sat in his bedroom at his computer quickly uses these reports, that must be true as they are in all of the papers, as the basis for a blog which implies he is in the know.
Before you know it someone on here writes "Yep, Liverpool want Sadio and Sadio would undoubtedly love to play for Liverpool".
FFS give me strength.

 

I think sadio would be extremely difficult to replace. If he goes, fair play, but we shouldn't sell him to Liverpool. Literally anyone but Liverpool. Except Spurs.
