You said you wouldn't have insisted on CN numbers so I'm just saying about your comment regarding address nowhere near Sheffield!
A database with 150k customer records is actually quite small these days. But you're right we can't just point the figure at City. I was just making the point the data transfer could easily have got screwed up somewhere along the line, a point some people don't want to entertain.
So you didnt have a valid ticket but they wouldn't throw you out? If you then produced your valid ticket they would know you were bullshitting all along and throw you out for causing hassle to some wednesday fan or if you were trying to sit under netting At QPR I was sat on the second row near the goal with netting on the first row. I moved the netting and sat on the front row. I could see a steward coming towards me so I went back to the second row and he turned round. When he got back to the side I was tempted to go back on the first row but I decided it was just too childish!
I said: “I wouldn't have insisted on CNs and prior purchase history but I would have required that OR proof of ID and proof of address which wasn't near Sheffield.” Do you understand now?
I said earlier that when TM had imported the data into their system they should have then exported it and sent it back to City to carry out checks that the data matched. They obviously didnt think of doing that.
The problems with the numbers will be down to human error either when entered in the first place or when Ticketmaster used them in their system. Lots of people managed to use the system just fine. You just don't here them because no one complains when it works. Let's stop using everything that goes wrong as a stick to beat the club with. Ticketmaster were recommended by the football league to sell the tickets as seems to be the norm in recent years. Some people had problems. It's to be expected. The seat moves are out of order. I doubt the club are at fault though. I bet the police have used our lack of ticket sales to increase fan separation for safety reasons.
I'm guessing all this was set up and done in a rush, ie after the 2nd Derby game. Doing proper integrity checks on transferred data takes time and money and I'd guess neither of these was made available.
When I was on the phone I ensured that it wasn't just some cock up reading the data by TM. The police would have had to be happy with the fan separation before the moves so it seems a lot of inconvenience just to increase their happiness.
They aren't going to admit the fault to you. They talk bollocks to shut people up. I doubt the person you spoke with knows what the problem was. As for the seat moves it's the only explanation I can think of. Why else would they do it.
I understand your point, I just don't understand why the Sheffield address would be a problem if the person has been to a game before. For the FA Cup semi final you had to have at least 2 ticket stubs for a game that season. That worked well!
They'll be lumping everyone together because it looks better, is easier and cheaper to control and will help generate atmosphere which they'll want.
All your allocation sold??? Doesnt seem to be the clamour and desperation for tickets i am seeing on Owlstalk?
