Jose was hardly that popular at RM, so their need to hold on to his image rights would have been negligable. At Chelsea he has been the manager at the helm for basically all of their recent success and is revered by the fans. I don't see why it would be so important now though. Whilst he will still likely get a fairly warm welcome, I don't know of many footy fans who would buy merchandise for a still active manager or player who is managing/playing for a rival. But if there is a penny to be squeezed I guess Chelsea were likely to squeeze. Bah!
Exactly. Very strange that this all needs to happen, and then Chelsea who obviously are desperate for the money, can be really difficult here and get another big win out of this.
