At the time he wanted to be sure of the league, and shutting shop was his way of doing it.
Jose has 2 faults, firstly the ego, secondly his inability to hide his emotions.Never known a manager
wear his heart on his sleeve like he does.Having said that i reckon he'll get you the league next season.<cheers>

Agree with you. With the money Jose will have, he can easily win the league next season.

First 2 seasons, he was a beginner in the toughest league in the world.

In his second stint he played some very good attacking footy. If Alex does it it will be sensational counter attacking, but if Jose does it will be Park the bus <doh>!!

I wouldn't totally write it off.... Ranieri can mix it with the best, and there's no pressure on him.
Got to back JM though especially without the CL to worry about.

<fixed> ... I very much doubt we will retain the title ... vultures are already circling <laugh>... but I am looking forward to how the majestic Mr Ranieri will manage our season next time around and I agree he will indeed 'mix it' ... we have dreamt the impossible dream and it has been wionderful ... I also think our season has been the best thing to have happened for domestic (perhaps even world) football in a very long time because it has rekindled countless dreams ...

I think it's potentially the most open P.L season ever. You could make a case for about 6-7 teams winning it, and that's without anyone else 'doing a Leicester'.

Not having European football could really work in the favour of Chelsea and Liverpool but they have ground to make up.

Can't see Leicester and Spurs having such good seasons but they will probably still challenge for top 4.

Arsenal will do what they always do.

It'll be City for me. Their squad looks like it needs the least tweaking to fit the manager's style, they'll spend loads on key personnel and have a manager who is a serial winner.

Can't make my mind up on United yet. Depends whether they have the scatter gun approach to signings of the last couple of years of actually get in quality where they need it.

Chelsea, yes to a top 4 finish, Liverpool between 5-8th
Spuds and Leicester will not have it so easy this coming season.

With UTD it boils down to why Jose buys in

  9. We'll have far too much in the tank for United and Chelsea.

As for 'Pool, these days, I don't even rank them as proper rivals. They're down there fighting it out with the likes of Saints and Stoke. Even the Spanners have made a shift on 'Pool just recently. I don't really see that changing tbh.

Its difficult to predict the exact positions next year.

Chelsea without Europe have a good chance. If they start well then its game on.

United. I reckon they'll be buzzing with Jose and stand a good chance of winning the title.

City. I'm not sure. They have work to do with their squad and its a new experience for the boss. Chance they could win though.

Arsenal. Will be there as usual but as of yet haven't improved where they needed to.

Spurs. Not sure. I can see them sliding back down to 5-8th with Champions league football and competition from bigger clubs this year. If they invest though they may be able to make a charge. Must start the season well.

West Ham. Really not sure. With the new stadium they are on a high. Dunno. Still not totally convinced.

Southampton. Remain strong. Will be knocking on the door for top 4.

Liverpool. Still many players short but without Europe and a couple of telling signings then 4/5th is achievable.

Leicester. Cannot see them challenging again especially as they're in Europe. Hopefully they'll have a good go. 8-12th.

In all seriousness I don't think it will have done anything for domestic football. It's without doubt the best thing that's ever happened to Leicester or any club that wouldnt be considered for a title challenge, but I don't see anything changing. We won't see another Leicester for many years and when it does happen it will be totally unrelated to what's happened this season.

.. so you don't think it has given a huge boost to every 'non monied' club? ... on that we will have to disagree. ... :)

Of course it has Fosse. You can already tell from when you hear the comments from a lot of people involved in the game and how they never say never and most say 'look at what Leicester have achieved'.
Teams like Leicester are the anti Christ of the old Sky4. Teams that fundamentally require over a 100 million and stupid wages on a regular basis in order to threaten success.

To be fair, Leicester winning the title will only make the big boys spend even more money and steal the title back from you.
Cant see it giving a big boost to WBA or Stoke, as they only want to stay in the PL.

... WBA perhaps...but players like Arnautovic, Affelay, Shaqiri and Bojan suggest Stoke are more ambitious than merely staying in the league..

Did you see Stoke play after they'd secured PL status? Their players showed no ambition at all.

  20. It was a freak season. By its very definition, it's unlikely ever to happen again.
