Was in Screw-Fix this afternoon and the chap queueing behind me stank of cannabis. I haven't smoked anything, even cigarettes, in years, but you never forget the smell. A few memories were awakened.
Just driven over the Hamble between junction8-9 on M27. I don't do that bit much these days and it evokes so many child hood memories of the hamble. You look left and see the river and the countryside, whilst right gives you the bend in the river and all the boats. I love it and need to bring the family down to poodle on the river. Anyone lend me a boat? Sadly, I'm heading east
Keep your eyes on the road I presume if you are going to poodle on the river, you will be doing the doggy paddle. Don't answer....keep your eye on the road!
Technically, I did it a few minutes ago. I'm sat in a car park now waiting for my appointment I always glance left and right there. It's such a beautiful spot.
If you're going East and you look to the left, you'll see the little promontory where we used to go up in a boat and barbecue/camp when I was a kid. It's where we buried my Dad's ashes a few years ago, so I always look ....................
July 4th [I think] St Denys Rowing and canoeing Club are doing a free day up the Hamble. You turn up, they provide the canoe and you paddle upto the Horse and Jockey pub, enjoy a lunch and paddle back. You pay your cost in turning up and the pub lunch. Everything else, canoe, paddle, life-jackets are provided.
What a pity the family decided it needed to come to this. I fear some "get rich quick" lawyer has been whispering in their ears ...... http://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/form...a-over-fatal-crash/ar-BBtvDhT?ocid=spartanntp
I never go anywhere on a Bank Holiday. Just lie back and watch the tv for news of the traffic jams and the hold up at the airports due to French traffic control. It happens every year, yet some people never learn.
France this weekend is going to be a barrel of laughs (not) for travellers. Strikes at the fuel depots, so potential lack of petrol/diesel throughout the country. Air Traffic controllers on strike (surprise, surprise ....) and strikes at ferry ports for the poor bastards who are thinking of trying to enjoy themselves by seeing Europe. Personally, I wish the Channel Tunnel had gone across to Belgium or the Netherlands, then we wouldn't be held to ransom by those revolting revolutionaries ......
