I really hope Bruce & Phelan are burning the midnight oil coming up with the formation to beat Sheff Weds but I just don't see it.Bruce is no tactical genius & will most likely stick to 4-4-1-1 the only question being does he play Meyler or Huddlestone alongside Livermore. I'd like to see Alex Bruce played in between defence & midfield to snuff out anyone who breaks through our midfield & is bearing down on goal . That would mean playing Davies,Maguire,Dawson at the back, Bruce in front & then a 4 man midfield with Diame in front & Hernandez up top. We know Forestieri is the danger man & he can shoot from distance so we have to stop him otherwise he will breeze past Huddlestone & take a crack from 25 yards into the top right corner.
We are 90 mins away from The Prem in a winner takes all game & Bruce has got to get his team selection & formation spot on.

It will be the same team that played Derby.

And if we were going to play someone in front of the back four, it would be Maguire not Bruce, but we definitely won't.

So you'd start with 4 centre backs and Bruce gets criticised for defensive tactics

Attack the f'kers! Last Tuesday showed we're not good at the sitting back malarkey! We bring our A game then we win simple! I'd like to see Diame stay further up the field & give their back line something to think about! If he's slow to get back in midfield then don't use him in that role! :emoticon-0148-yes:

I'd either drop him & have Hudds in that roll if we aren't playing 2 out & out strikers, or keep him high up like you say & have Meyler in the centre with Hudds from the bench, for me Hudds from the bench later in the game will give us more chance to create!

I agree. Either play him further forward to be a threat or replace him with Meyler/Hayden who can get up and down.

I don't think your team is cautious enough.

    I'd go

    Goalie
    Dave Maguire Dawson Davies Robertson
    Elmo Meyler Bruce Livermore Clucas

I'd play Diame too, and tell him to do absolutely **** all like he did last match, surely this will take us to the Premier League

Meyler in for Diame , other than that unchanged. I'd like to see Clucas and Harry on at some point, these guys are the future of the club not people like Diame and will sweat blood on the pitch for us. Failing that Clucas for Diame, or Maloney for Diame

Same team that played Derby, but bring Meyler on quicker if we are getting over run. If only to deal with Bannan.

Don't normally waste my time on these armchair manager dribblings let alone post in response to them.

But "I really hope Bruce & Phelan are burning the midnight oil coming up with the formation to beat Sheff Weds but I just don't see it.Bruce is no tactical genius"

sums up the negative, know-nowt streak which blights this club's support.

    We don't deserve the PL.

The only change I'd make is Diame for Clucas

I'd start Meyler 100% and bring on Huddlestone if are starting to take control of the game. We were being completely destroyed in the midfield before Meyler came on in the second leg against Derby. As soon as he came on it gave us the energy and bite to start winning the battle. I'd have Hayden on the bench as well for sure to give added energy if we need it late on.

Yep, thats why I would have Meyler in from the start so we don't get over-run early doors and gift them an early goal to hang on to, let Diame be the glory substitute later on. It was the same story at Derby away until Hernandez hit them on the counter after 20 odd minutes so there is a pattern there, we need to get into them from the start

I'm afraid I agree with him, Bruce is no tactical genius.

Diame was a sub earlier in the season and it seemed to work well enough. Then he began to start and results generally went worse.

Going by recent teams Hayden won't even be a sub, and yet earlier in the season Bruce said he wanted to sign him. I wonder if we go up and Bruce says he really wants to keep him but Hayden leaves as he feels he has better chances elsewhere?

It will be exactly the same as Derby but probably Meyler for Huddlestone!

Diame will start, this is a pointless debate.

Let's just hope it's in a forward role and he doesn't leave Hernandez isolated.

All I can say in his defence is he is carrying an injury but Bruce never came out and said that like he did with Huddlestone last match
