You do realise that that is peanuts in the scheme of things.

 

Exactly, it's puzzling why some are worrying over a few million.

 

Because Southampton are nothing if not prudent with the cash. They won't pay over the odds as they see them. I'm just reflecting what I expect their viewpoint to be.

 

Yeah, but talk of 2, possibly even 3 Charlies for someone who's surplus to requirements at Scousehampton seems just.....wrong

A few deals at 'current' prices before things go crazy could help later on in the window, when bigger targets are being fought over.

 

The only established good PL players going for 8m in this day and age are those that are being offloaded, owing to age/contractual status/wages. I'd honestly be surprised if that's all it took to get him.

 

£5m, £8m, £10m? None of this really matters when they want him back for £15m, £20m, £25m in a year or two's time.....

Being more serious though. I don't subscribe to that argument of 'it's only a couple of million different, what does it matter compared to the tv money', because if you sell yourself short by £2m per deal by poor negotiation and you do c. 8-12 deals per year in sales as well as purchases, then that's a hell of a lot of money wasted through inefficiency that would've been useful for either signing another top player, or retaining a couple of better players with improved contracts.

Yep, there's a load of money sloshing about the PL, but our spending power is by no means infinite. If we are better at identifying the right targets that are available at the right prices, whatever money we have budgeted on spending goes further to improving the overall squad/product on the field.

 

I'd seriously be tempted to cash in on Vic if his heart is not here anymore. £25m is a lot of money and he can be a liability with his reckless tackling
I also think that he could become a bit part player at Spurs the same as Morgan at Manure.

 

Jesus! I'd bite spurs' hand off for £25m for wanyama. He has only one year left on his contract, so the question you essentially ask yourself is: Would I pay 25 million (plus his wages) to keep wanyama for one extra season? The answer is certainly no. I'd say his market value is about 25/30m if he had a few years on his contract. We coped without Morgan and he is far better than Wanyama has ever been for us.

Well we're just a small club in the South East so it's hard to give stick to you big guys up here. Tbf Saints have always been a decent club in my eyes with decent fans and growing up watching Le Tissier was sublime so always hope that you guys do well

 

Theres better midfielders than Vic out there for the same money, dare I say it less than 25 million.

 

Who could we visably get to replace Vic? Not saying we couldn't, I just don't know a great deal about players abroad who play in the mould of Vic.

One player who we could get is Bazoer. He would cost about 20m, he is better then Wanyama.

Plenty of players out there.

 

There's this one chap called Romeu. We could get him. Or there's another kid that might be able to do a job for us if we can get him called Harrison Reed. If we could get either of those then we would be sorted.

 

We need better than Reed if we're to stay in the top 6 of the PL.
