Aye eventually but El Toro isn't a memorable... standout signing for me.
I remember him more in his LFC goalie kit getting pelters from the Strawberry Corner with chants of 'we're in the top six'....

So no need to change my name. I'm not fickle, like some buggers on here!

Enrique is literally the only one who did any good there.

Barton is very overrated in his time here, he did far better before and after us, with us he was a mix of constant injuries, assaults, prison time, red cards, falling out with managers, being a gobby **** on Twitter, and the occasional, but rare inspired performance.

and looking at his other signings, urgh - Geremi, Rozenhal, Viduka, Smith, Cacapa....no wonder Ashley wouldn't let managers have control of transfers after that!!!

There are a few words to the wise about this Benitez thing:

    1. History tells us that Mike likes to **** it all up and Rafa will likely walk in a KK type way before he puts up with any guff
    2. Rafa or no Rafa this season will be an utter bastard and the championship will be far from a cake walk. Indeed its not unthinkable we won't return at the first attempt. I'm ok with that if we are entertained - must won't be
    3. Its still just sky sources <laugh>

It is proving very entertaining listening to the mackems though. They are all het up coming out with the usual drivel "They think they have a messiah" "They think he's got a magic wand" etc etc etc. Its worth playing along with all that just to enrage them further. I can see one poster already has been...

<applause> ^^ I'd rather have Rafa serving me food en una restaurante than have that fat Hippo Heed Allardyce as manager :emoticon-0136-giggl

The mackems just don't get it do they. Happy to pay to be served up ****e. Each to their own. Mind give it another season and a half and we'll see if they still love Sam. Half them will be on a waiting list for serious neck injuries due to repetitive strain.

Mackems must be easily pleased.....well, actually they are, over 15(?) seasons in the Prem they average 39 points so just surviving must make them ecstatic. Fat Sam Hippo Heed meanwhile, has a worse win ratio at sunderland than he had at Newcastle*....and we got rid. Proof surely that the filthy mackems are indeed, easily pleased <applause>

Best post so far about Sam Allardyce because of the explanation, you give.

Disagree about your opinion of his style of football at Sunderland though. I think it must be ingrained in you to think that his style of football is one dimensional. It isn't. We don't just play hoofball, we've been playing good pressing football. The one thing he has changed for the better and you were stuck doing it all season with SM, is that when the centre halfs have it under pressure, it goes long instead of trying to play it out every time. I'm happy with that personally. We still mostly play football on the ground, but there's a time and place to do that.

Only ever particularly watched Fat Sam's style when he was at Newcastle as not that concerned with him but I can vouch for the fact that his style at Newcastle was "hoofball".

I was ecstatic when he was sacked as his style was not what I wanted to watch. An over riding memory of his time here was watching from the Gallowgate End whilst whoever was centre half launched the ball up field to our towering pair of attackers of Owens and Obafemi. Soul destroying is such an inadequate description but it's the best I can quickly think of.

I'd bet my bollocks on an immediate return with Rafa in charge. NUFC made a mockery of the championship last time after all the doom and gloom predictions.

If Newcastle had stayed up then control would have been kept away from Rafa and then the situation would revert to normal. Now we've had a bit of a set back the board have made the correct changes and this is where we're at.

You have to consider it took relegation to get rid of Carr. And most of us understand that this is a gamble but, as a punting man myself, I prefer the odds by dropping one division. In the short term, i.e. one year, it's not ideal that I grant you. However, over the medium to long term this has more advantages than disadvantages mostly because nothing will have changed otherwise.
