Tramere was 5-0. Stragely Tranmere away was was of only 2 away defeats. Good old statcat cracking site.
I hadn't been for a while before this season so the Chelsea 3-2 was an unbelievable game in terms of excitement, atmosphere and significance. Think Vince mentioned it above, the 2-1 win over Chelsea at Roker Park in the FA cup quarter final was a belter.
We always lost at ****ing Tranmere man, usually 1-0. Always quite liked their shifty little ground we always rammed it and atmosphere was decent. First promotion under Reidy we took 12,000 or so down, I remember exactly as we went 1-0 down Ubited scored and the Mags had blown the league, the stadium went wild the lad taking pen for Tranmere looked confused as ****. We got a full case of Skol into that game would you believe haha
My first match, 4-3 against Burnley in 1972. We scored first, they scored 3, then we got another 3 in a 5 minute spell to win it.
Whent out for a piss got back just in time to see the header go in great day Great semi pitty about the final
I spent the 2-1 v Chelsea pretty much gawping at the crowd, it was far from my first game but it was something else. I was 11, and I think that game might be where I can pinpoint the curse of eternal love for the club biting.
The internet helps (http://www.thestatcat.co.uk/) My actual memory of it isn't so good. I just remember that the first game I saw was close with lots of goals, the second we won by loads, and the third we lost. I actually always thought that it was QPR that we had battered, but looking at the stats site, the only home games that it fits around the time is Burnley 4-3, Watford 5-0, QPR 0-1.
Aye - Sunderland 5 - 0 Tranmere - August 22nd 1998... Without looking it up at all How do I know - IT WAS THE DAY I MARRIED THE USELESS FAT EX-WIFE! Silly Bitch made me miss a game!
Oh absolutely. But I can't and don't want to imagine a life without a football club that matters interfering. I can't and won't ever understand the folk that don't like football, don't understand that an hour and a half on the pitch is a tiny part. It's bonding, it's unity, it's release from the real world. The fact there's so many of us chatting **** on this forum says it all, it's life. How many great pals have we all made via footy, even many members of this forum. How many hours filled, how much have we learned about the world because of it? It's a curse but **** me are we glad we have it.
When we lost 4-3 to Citeh at the Etihad, the game that Hughes was sacked after. Bellamy ripped through us. Incredible game of footy.
True mate. You know my story. Bloody club since day one. As much as ive tried to distance myself from it in the past, it still drags me back in. There is zero reasons for me to be om here. Except that bloody club and the lads on here.
What else do folk do though mate? I probs spend about 8 hours a week chasing/smooching birds. I go to my place of business 50 or so, work about 3.5. Ahem. Then what? Watch ****ing soaps? Naaaaa. There's only football mate. What if we'd been born in Bury or Rochdale or Hull? We'd all be ****ed.
